Mothers Products

Hey, I haven't posted in this forum in a while, but I wanted to share this with all of you. I see an awful lot of talk about Meguiar's, Zaino, and Klasse in this forum and I've been a Meguiar's user for a long time. However, I have been trying many, many products from Mothers here recently and I have found a new staple line to keep on my car. I would highly recommend taking some of their stuff for a 'spin' and see what you think.

The reason I felt compelled to post this was not one Mothers product hit the Consumer Reports wax thread. (But then again, I don't hold Consumer Reports to be experts in any field period. ) I felt this to be a rip off as I really like the Mothers waxes in particular -- they provide a very deep shine as opposed to just a 'surface' shine. I find that in most of their other products as well.

Anyway, some results:

(Sorry, I didn't get an engine picture - which is what I kind of have a reputation for - but it turned out beautiful with the Protectant product of theirs!)

Products used:
Back to Black
FX wax
California Gold car wash
Reflections leather cleaner/conditioner
Protectant
All Wheel Cleaner
Reflections Tire Care
Mag and Aluminum Polish (all-metal safe, used on Borla tip)
Showtime detailer
Their various mitts, brushes, etc.

Things of note:
This is a daily-driver, 2002, parked outside, 63,000 miles logged, car. Not too shabby.

I know product choice is very personal and is based on your wants, feels, and desires -- but if you're looking for a change or are not happy with your current products, give some Mothers stuff a try.

I've been very pleased with the Mothers stuff! And I'm a little particular!

Autozone sells Mother's clay bar... it's the only local retail place in town that has clay bar and I almost bought it, but I'd never heard of anyone using that brand. Have you ever used it?

I have been using Mothers California Gold Carnauba Paste wax for years, I have tried other stuff but keep coming back to it. My friend has 4 show hot rods, he won't use anything else on them. More years ago than I like to think about I used a paste wax called Mac's , great stuff but I havn't been able to find any the past 20 years.

i use Mother's clay. it's firm and easy to use unlike some of those
really soft clays that almost dissolve as you use it and sticks
to you hands (ahem, Greeohz)...

i also found that Mother's detailer spray that comes with their
clay kit is much more slick vs its direct competition QuikDetailer
from Meguiar's... for off the shelf stuff, i would chose Mother's
over the Meguiar's consumer lineup.

I did use the Mothers clay on the car before the FX wax -- I forgot to mention that. Their clay is very good -- the Meguiar's stuff is too soft.

I also put a coat of carnauba paste wax on top of whatever is on the car before shows (not shown in any of the pics on this thread....)

I use mothers products all the time. I use their clay bar, sealer/glaze, and reflections polish, and showtime detailer spray. I believe these products are among the best out there and i have tried alot. Here are some pics of my car just after a coat of sealer/glaze and one coat of reflections.

Wow! Nice shine! A lot of American hot rod guys swear by Mother's. I have a five gallon bucket stuffed full of their products that I won at a car show so I should give them a whirl.

Awesome - I'll pick it up the next time I'm in there, then. I agree on the Griot's clay... it really IS very sticky... but since it's the only kind I ever used I figured it was ALL like that. I think that firmer would be better- thanks! I've never seen their detail spray on the shelf anywhere, though - I was just planning on using car wash shampoo solution.

Wow! Good wax shine. I have been using the Back to Black for years, great product. Looks like I should consider some wax.

Thanx for the review.
