Ants in Mini

So I picked up my car about 9 days ago(pictures will be in my gallery soon) and it has been raining for the past 2 weeks straight it seems like, so I've been keeping my car parked in the garage. Three days ago I was taking it out of garage, I open the driver's side door and see a couple of ants on the rubber padding around the door frame, weird I thought. It seems like they were taking refuge from the rain in the garage and decided to jump in the Mini. When I took a closer look there were actually more like a couple hundred and they were in the rubber padding around the door frame . Why would ants like to live in a Mini I thought, well the answer is they were eating excess wax/polish left on the edges of the door. Now there's an invasion in there and I cleaned off all the wax I could see, but the ants have probably made a colony by now somewhere in there and my MA told me to give it a few days after the wax is cleaned off and check for ants, but it sounds like they might have to take it apart to get it really checked. Anyone have any recommendations of dealing with ants? I'll probably just take it in without doing anything other than keeping it clean but any other tips are appreciated.

That's a bunch of hooey!

Ant's don't like roaches, and vice versa.

Termites tho... That's a different ball of wax.

I wouldn't suggest putting this anywhere on your MINI but maybe you could get them feeding on this outside of the car and they take it back to their friends. What a wacky problem to deal with good luck!

I would apply rubber lube to the seals including drainage holes arount the doors. Insects can't tolerate oils. Most likely they are there for shelter from the rain.

I saw a special that said ants wouldn't cross a line of flour. Don't know if that helps any, but why not share the factoids.

And no, I'm no an expert. But I have lived in a houses with each, but not both.

if the ants were present at time of delivery it is a dealer problem and they should be responsible for fixing it

I have heard that ants don't like bay leaves, you can try putting a couple in your floor boards to see if that helps. Good luck, what a strange issue.

bomb it. What an awkward situation. We had a Spider infestation in one of our cars (wolf spider) one night we were driving home and seemed like the ceiling was moving so we turned on the lights an whole roof was covered with baby spiders it was really creepy so we drove home as fast as we could we jumped out and I ran in the house and got bug spray and sprayed everything. The next morning we opened the car up everything was dead and guess what i found mom right on the side of the passenger seat (MY SEAT). By the way she was roughly about 3in. in diameter.

The location of my house makes it prone to invasion by ants a couple of times during the year, and I have some experience dealing with them.

They can only get to the car where it contacts the ground, i.e. the tires. Stop them there and they won't get inside the car. Spray 'n Wash (laundry stain remover) repels ants (a great alternative to smelly, toxic insecticide). Spray a ring of Spray 'n Wash on the ground around each of the tires. That will prevent any new ants from entering. As for the ones already in the car, vacuum them out. Individual ants have a very short life span (I believe only a few days), and the ones you miss will die out quickly.
