Uh oh, I think you guys turned me into a detailing snob

The PDX Mini club was invited to a rally held by the Oregon Rally group. I wasn't able to participate but i stopped by to see the cars and take some pics.

The event started at one of the sports car dealerships in town so the have a bunch of their inventory on display. A Spyker C8 catches my eye:

So thanks to you guys, the first thing I check out is the finish.

Yep, it had swirl marks and some haze

They weren't that bad actually, just very minor swirls. But for brand new $300,000 car, I think I would not want swirl marks.

Made me want to run home and get my PC and polish those out

Great pix! These look to me like buffer swirls which are induced by a detailer who doesn't know what he's doing with a rotary buffer! Or more accurately, from a production detailer who isn't focused on quality. When you see stuff like this, now's a good time to introduce yourself and say..."uhm, what a great looking car, too bad somebody trashed your finish. Here's my card. Call me if you want a finish worthy of a car like this!" LOL

I see this all too often on high end black cars every day.

Yeah, you could definitely tell it was a rotary buffer since the swirls down the side had a nice repeating pattern to them. It made me sad :(

The black Mini that can be seen in the other shots had a nicer finish and it wasn't brand new.

Those Spykers are beautiful cars... too bad they don't come with a copy of Octane Guy's CD!
