Ice?

I just got my car a little over a week ago and I have heard that you shouldnt put wax on your car the first month of ownership. Is this true of synthetic waxes(like ice) as well?

I will defer this to our detailing experts like Brad and Agranger but in general, some ppl will tell you the paint needs curing time but I dunno. I doubt it will hurt but lets see what our experts have to say.

Sal at Zaino told me go ahead and use a claybar, and z2/zfx the day you get the car. I know of no reason why this wouldn't also apply to any other non-abrasive poly or carnuba treatment.

Another expert here on NAM, I don't remember who, said that unlike body shop paint work, which DOES need cure time, factory finishes are baked on at a much higher temperature and are virtually cured by the time they've arrived at your dealer.

The finish is cured from day one. Wax away.
