Aero Grilles Ruined

My black aero grilles did not fare well this winter in Chicago, and have since been "whitened" at their edges by either salt or wind or a combo of many things. I tried mother's back to black which works great on the wheel arches, but it did nothing to the grilles but make them shiny. The dullness of the black and the whitening is driving me nuts and looks like crap. Anyone else have this problem and been able to remedy it?

Thanks,
TJM

Mine started turning white less than a year after installing them. I replaced them with black M7 grills this spring. Much better.

Replace them with the M7 stuff. Very high quality and worth the $$.

Mine were looking faded as well so I just took mine off last weekend. Lightly sanded with 100 and 150 grit sand paper and sprayed them with Rustoleum textured paint for plastic.

So far it looks great. Now all that remains I to see how it holds up. But it’s worth a try if the grill is looking bad as it is minimal cost and time involved. It’s a option before replacement of the grills. I still may go the M7 route as soon as there is a soon as there is a complete set for the aero kit.

i also do find it kinda incomplete, it's like just cheap metal mesh from home depot and double side taping it into the empty grille slot. but the color is quite attractive.

I'll put in a vote for the aero grille painted with a high quality finish. I like M7 stuff and have quite a bit, but the grilles look like they were an after thought. Still, they are metal and they are black...

cheers,

I'm not much for the M7 upper 2 grills, but I love the lower one! Anything to get rid of that cheap piece of flimsy plastic!

You know... you can buy a completely new set of Aero Grills for something like $80 online...

I'd be tempted to try painting the old ones and just buy new if you don't like the finished result.

agranger, true. But I fail to see how buying a new set of grilles every year solves this problem.

Oh... you wanted the problem SOLVED! You realize that you've come to the wrong place for that, don't you?
