Hey all,
Well, El Kabong is now 5 weeks old and I can finally spend the day Zainoing! Honestly, this is what I've asked my family for as a Christmas gift. The entire day to myself to Zaino, no driving any kids anywhere, I'm not stopping to make lunch for anyone and I'm not settling ANY arguments even if bloodshed is involved
I washed El Kabong last night and will start with clay barring.
Question 1. My PW/B has a few little stains already! Will the clay bar remove this type of thing or is there another solution?
Question 2. I have used Zaino for years on my PT, and I noticed that the Zaino will ruin the black plastic parts. I work very hard now NOT to get the Zaino on these parts, but is there a fix if I do?
Question 3. I have a space heater in my garage that I am going to crank in few to start warming up out there, I can usually get the garage to around 60 degrees, is this ok?
Thanks all and Merry Merry, Happy Happy!
Annette

Answer 1: The clay should remove the stains, depending on their origin. You might need some polishing compound (Z-PC for instance) for the stubborn ones.
Answer 2: I use painters masking tape on the black trim to keep Zaino off of it. Peanut oil will remove dried Zaino if necessary. Alcohol works faster but it will also remove the Zaino from the paint if you get it on there.
Answer 3: I'll let Sal answer this. The Zaino site states, "Please NOTE: Zaino Show Car Polish works best at 60 degrees or higher. However, it can be applied down to temperatures of 45 degrees. It just will take much, much longer to dry. As much as two to three hours drying time is required if the temperature is 50 degrees or below." So you should be fine as long as the kids keep the bloodshed to a minimum for the whole day.
Thanks for the reply.
The clay bar removed the stains and removed 2 little scratch marks on the bumper!!!!!
Thanks for the peanut oil tip, I have some here so can resort to that if need be.
I found the temp thing on the website, too. I didn't have it in my box with the directions, but I knew I was missing some of it. I only got one coat on today, the clay bar then washing took longer than I thought it would. I also managed to scratch up a portion of the roof My only guess is that there was a bit of grit in the piece of clay I used there. I guess I'll try some Z5 tomorrow or maybe the Z PC if that doesn't work.
All in all, El Kabong looks very shiny and happy. I'll feel better after I get another couple of coats on him.

Some other products for the remaining stains, etc:
Bug and Tar Remover (a turtle wax product) - It's got lots of solvents and some pretty strong abrasives in there. Great for those stubborn marks. It will strip Zaino.
Scratch-X: Same as above. Probably better quality
Sonus compound trio - available on autopia-carcare.com. A 3 step compound, polish, glaze to recondition any tiny scratch or paint imperfection.
I've done Zaino in cooler temps (45-50 degrees), but I applied it and left it on overnight. A quick 15 minute buff off the next morning and you are ready to go.
So how are you enjoying Jango? Glad to see he finally arrived safe and sound.
I'm going to have to Zaino one coat a day, kind of like you do. Put it on at night and buff off the next morning. I can't stand winter and wish for warm sunny days constantly!

It can be a bit tough to get the dried Zaino off the next morning... just add a spritz of z6 and buff again if it doesn't come off with the first try. I generally buff it off and then QD with z6 again anyway... I just can't resist that last little bit of shine.
Jango is great! (for those of you not up on the story, Jango is my new '06 MCS PW/PW ) I'm having some body work done in a few months, so I'm trying to keep most of the products except a good shampoo away from the exterior for now. The inside on the other hand, has had a full detailing and treatment (man there is a lot of plastic inside these things!). That leather is very thirsty too!
