Slippery Leather Dippery ;)

The reason I have been a way for a while is that I have been very busy in a new part of my like (called women) and I have been recovering from a traumatic head, shoulder, and neck injury that occured subsequently during this last weekend.

I decided that I wanted to use (test) my current leather care products against each other b4 I applied them to my own outrageously expensive custom leather interior. So first I applied some to my dad's Navigator, then to my mom's Ford Exploder(), then to add some fun, to our leather bar stools in the game room in our basement. First there was the neighborhood party Sat. night, I'm sitting on one of the leather barstools, and slide off hitting my head on the table. The next day my dad goes to take me to the doctor because of the head injury and I shatter my shoulder when, when he went around corner the (inertia) + (the lack of friction caused by the leather treatment) = Mike pasted to the window with his shoulder still in the intersection, then when my mom came to pick me up from the ER, I slid off the seat of her car while getting in and broke my neck on the running board, how convienient.

For all of you who actually bought that story, I don't know about your common sense, other than it is very low, JK My point is, is that I could have a themepark made up of nothing but these treated seats, they're more slippery than anything I have ever seen. But I want to enrich my seats for the first time, still retain the smell, but loose the waterpark feeling everytime I get in. Is there anything I can do with this stuff, or is there any other stuff on the market that is what I am looking for?

Thanks, and I hope you had a good laugh!

Mikey

I've never had the slippery leather problem since I switched to the Zaino-brand leather cleaner and (separate product) conditioner. I used to experience it a bit more when I used Meguiars Gold Class Leather Treatment.

I can't imagine that you would completely get away from it as you are adding oils and waxes to the hides to keep them in good condition and moisturized. Oils and waxes are naturally slippery (duh!).

It's a good question and I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison: Which leather conditioner best preserves hide quality and grip.

I'm sure, though, that someone will be along shortly to point out that if you wanted maximum grip, you shoulda gone with cloth.

I should qualify my post, above, by saying that I've never used any leather treatment on a MINI... just my wife's Nissan Murano. The leather in the Murano feels thicker and glossier than that in a MINI.

I'll let you know how the Zaino conditioner does in a MINI after this weekend (Delivery appointment for Jango is 9am on Friday

I've used this http://leatherz.com/Merchant2/mercha...arCareProducts with no slipperyness or shinyness. They also have good advice on caring for leather: http://www.leatherz.com/leathercare2.htm

Dang, I fell for your story longer than I care to admit!

I have used probably 6-8 different leather care products on many different cars, mostly German and British, but never a MINI...(I have the super deluxe, mega expensive, ultra rare, vinyl option)

I can't, however, imagine why it is much different. What product did you use? Did you follow directions?
