Dealing with winter

Well real winter hit here this week

We got a foot of snow Tuesday.

Mid storm

The rest of the week was spent motoring in some very tough conditions. 2+ hours to do a 1 hour commute

I should have taken a pic. of how dirty Poco got before I washed him at the local wandwash, but lets just say he was coated in some heavy grim.

I got him washed down with the wand, then went over him with my mitt.

Dryed him off outside, and motored home. He got some road spray on him, but nothing some QD could not deal with.

I then got a coat of NXT booster wax on. Could be the last one in a long time.

The 3 coats of NXT wax I got on really helped to get him clean today.

Hope he still looks this good in Febuary

I need to find an indoor warm place to keep this up.

Your MINI looks better than mine just after RAIN

Now you gotta keep track and tell us the "lowest" the OBC tell you this winter. Ours finally had the little thing make a noise and blink since it go down to 22!

BTW, the stealth roof works

It hit -27C (-16.6F) one morning this week. And that was the day after the storm. The storm hit with temps that were at the freezing mark, so everything was covered in ice, before the snow started.

This will be Poco's 3rd winter. I have never had a better winter car

I pulled out of my driveway on the day of the storm, so my neighbor could blow the snow out. No problem, just me and the 4x4s out that day

Got lots of thumbs up from them as we blasted through some heavy wet drifts.

I don't baby my MINI, I just take care of it

RallyMINI, the Pirelli's work great. I pulled out of my driveway, with snow up to the axles, no problem. Just turn off any traction control you have off, you do need to spin the wheels some. Took a few runs at the road, back up, go again, back up go again. But I was out motoring before the plows came through.

They perform VERY well on snow packed roads, lots of control, and braking is also very good.

Nothing short of studded tires works great on ice, but I feel under control on icy roads.

I commute 100 miles everyday on dry pavement, well unless it is snowing, and the Pirille's are great in temps below 40F. No road noise either

Happy I have mine. I'm sure you will be impressed with them

I put the Pirelli Snow Controls on last winter,.....they're great. So they were on one season. I will soon be putting them on again down here in Massachusetts....I'm not sure if I should put them on the same wheels as last winter, or if I should rotate them front to back...any sugestions?

(I know that for tire rotation of regular non-winter tires on the MINI there are two schools of thought...rotate frequently or no rotation at all) (I'm choosing the no rotation at all on my regular tires so when the fronts wear out, then I'll rotate and put the new ones on the rear...so I'm not sure if I should do the same for these Snow Controls)

I think there are two basic camps to mini tire rotation. Often/each season front to back, then replace the whole set when they are worn, or Leave them, when the fronts wear get two new tires for the back and move the backs to the front. So it's basically deciding if you want to stay with the same tires and buy two at a time, or buying tires 4 at a time which would be a better choice if you intend to switch to a different tire model.

I have been trying to get to the wand wash for a week, but it's been snowing like 1" to 2" a day, just enough to keep the streets from clearing and to make sure my car would get dirty between the wand wash and home. It warmed up to 22F today so I washed outside even though it was snowing, I just had to get that salt spray off. I had to move inside to dry though, as things kinda froze to the car. Really wishing I'd put a floor drain in when I built the shop...
