i am not gonna be seeing my baby for a year, she is in a completely covered "warehouse" and i believe its somewhat climate controled. now my question is what should i do to get her all cleaned up before we motor together. i need suggestions like the best clay bar and so on and places to order online. your help is great and thank you
http://www.meguairs.com is a one excellent place to order your claybar and quality detailing products from.
if you are about to go abroad for a year, if it were me, I would claybar and totally get ready the car, and then jack it up just off the ground so it is not sitting on the suspension and tires for a year (tire pressure could go also), put a car cover over it, even if it will be indoors, disconnect the battery. I am not sure about fluids but maybe someone else knows about that ....
Good luck, say Hi to Uncle Sam, and thanks for your service to our country
fuel stabilizer in the gas tank would be good. . . .
If I was storing a car for a year, I'd do my best to have someone drop by and actually drive it once in a while. 20 miles a month or so might be really good for it to keep all the moving parts moving. . .

THANKS for the replys and Uncle Sam says hi back to ya madhatter. so i guess the meguirres clay bar is like the best (everyone here always talks about it) but other than that should i zaino the crap out of it once finally get back or is there some other stuff to do to
Put a good coat of vinyl treatment on the door/window/boot/hood seals and lightly dust them afterwards with baby powder.
Fuel stabelizer in the gas would be good.... and run the engine a bit to get the stabelizer in the fuel lines as well (or the solids in the gas will turn to varnish in your fuel lines while you are gone).
The jack stands are a good idea.
Some baking soda filter-side boxes inside the car might be good.
If it's inside and not locked in it's own storage space, get a good car cover with some padding (felt lined).
