Stupid Quetion 11...

There is an area between the stripes on the bonnet that had to be repainted. The color match is OK, but even after claybaring and waxing there is no depth like the rest of the finish.

Is there something that can be done to bring out a high luster deep shine like the rest of the car?

A quick test for clear coat: Take a bit of polish (real polish... something with grit like paintwork cleanser or swirl mark remover) and apply with a white cloth. If the cloth turns red, there is no clear coat.

You may need to polish the entire hood... clay, swirl mark remover, paintwork cleanser, wax/seal.

Wait 4 or 5 weeks for the new paint to cure before doing any polishing work.

Thanks for your reply. I went back to the body shop and the manager offered to polish the hood because he could see the clear coat had hazed over. I am no expert, but I find this hard to believe.

Rather than let this shop experiment, please tell me what specific products to use in order to restore luster to the hood. BTW, the area that needs work is between the racing stripes so I think I won't need ot do the entire hood.

Thanks for your help.
