Apply Klasse Sealant Glaze with bonnet?

The Autopia site recommends applying Klasse Sealant Glaze with the Porter Cable 7424 using a microfiber bonnet.

I haven't used my PC on my car yet, but I did detail 2 painted metal folding chairs tonight (they look fantastic, of course, but I'm afraid I may find myself sliding off of them now).

I didn't want to use my Sonus pads for anything other than my car, so I just used the pad that came with the PC to apply All In One first (I draw the line at using a clay bar on my folding chairs). Then I put the bonnet over the pad to apply the SG, as Autopia suggests.

My question comes up because it seemed like most of the SG was absorbed into the bonnet. I know the layer of SG is supposed to be really thin, so I guess a bonnet that is essentially moistened with SG does the trick. Before I try it on my MINI, I thought I'd get your feedback. What do you all do?

(My MINI plan is to use the finest finish pad to apply AIO, then use the microfiber bonnet to apply the SG, buffing with wonder buffing towels in between, of course.)

Thank you all.

I use an Edge 2000 pad on the PC to apply All-In-One and a microfiber bonnet on the PC to remove it, but I found the Sealant Glaze to be a trickier beast.

After some Web surfing, I found a recommendation to follow the "wipe on wipe off" approach: wipe it on by hand with a microfiber pad/cloth (spritzed with QD) and then wipe it off (also by hand) immediately with a dry microfiber cloth (not letting the Sealant Glaze dry first). This seems to work well, and though I was dubious that I was getting the full protection of the product without letting it dry first, the detailers on the forum I was reading swore it made no difference.

Thanks for digging up my post - I was hoping someone would resond eventually! The wipe-on/wipe-off is what the SG bottle recommends, so that was my plan.

I was talking to someone about this just yesterday. He's photographer's assistant, but used to do high-end detailing. I told him I had gotten the PC, and he says "the 7424?" so I know he's on the same wavelength. Anyway, he has an unorthodox SG method: he applies a coat and lets it sit for (you might want to sit down when he read this next part) 24 hours before removing it with a microfiber towel spritzed with quick detailer. He put 7 coats of it on his BMW M Coupe that way. The car just sat in his garage for a week, with a new coat of SG each day.

This is apparently sanctioned by other detailing fanatics, but there ain't no what I'm doing it, but he said he always applied SG manually for fear of getting swirl marks from some stray dust particle on the finishing pad. I'm not a perfectionist, so I think I'll experiment with both methods to see what works for me.

I let a patch of SG sit and dry for just an hour or so, and it was a bugger to remove. The QD did help, but wipe on/wipe off is definitely much easier.

I think that the SG is a lot like Zaino Z2. If so, just try using a foam applicator (nothing fancy like microfiber or terrycloth... just simple foam).

Give the applicator 1 shot of QD spray and apply sealant to foam.

You will waste more product just filling up the huge surface of the bonnet w/ no need. The foam puts it on quickly and evenly.

I bought some nice applicators from autopia with hand grips... blue with black foam layer... very nice.
