New Meguiars NXT Speed Detailer

OK, I was skeptical because the regular Quick Detailer is awesome and I didn't think it could be improved. It can. This stuff costs twice as much as the QD but it rocks (although it doesn't smell quite as nice as the other.) The shine seems to look much deeper and it wipes off easier. It's worth the dough.

History:
Since January, I burned thru 2 of the red Meguiar's bottles of QD and a (pinch hitting) bottle of Eagle1 Wipe n' Shine. Then my Zaino order arrived and I started obsessing on making the Z6 QD last...

Picked up a bottle of the new Meguiar's Speed Detailer, spotted when I was on a mission for wheel cleaner anyhow...

Gut feeling after a few applications:
Don't flame me for mixing product lines, this is an experiment, and I get to "conserve" my Zaino QD a little bit, in the meantime. Despite limited experience, I can tell that the new Meguiar's "Speed" QD is more like Z6 and less like the Eagle1 stuff.

Probably my observations are not worth much, since I did a lot of QD BEFORE I joined the Zaino Cult. Things are very slippery smooth, nowadays - that would make ANY QD look good, I suspect.

As much as I like Meguiars, I am tempted to try out the Zaino.

You'll dig it if you do, and if you don't have genuine leather interior, you can get by with the less expensive of the 2 "kits" at the Zainostore.com.

For purposes of comparing price, Z6 the "QD", costs $9.95 for a 16 oz. bottle, and allegedly works in concert with the rest of the Zaino line. My results were just so good, and with the internet-only availability, that I wanted a decent "readily available stand in" QD to help stretch out my supply of Z6, and so far no complaints at all with the new Speed Detailer product (over a couple layers of Zaino).

Don't even ASK me about my current issues with water spots (*sigh),
Tatt

What a coinky-dink! I just got some tonight. Gonna use it for the show Sunday, and am glad to hear it'll do the trick (I haven't washed my MINI since last Sunday. Will work long & hard on it, inside & out, tomorrow).

Good luck Sunday and you realize you have to post a "review" now, right?

Could it be Meguiar's is as good at "marketing" as MINI? I'm curious what's gonna happen with the "original" product...

perhaps dumb questions:

1) is the NXT Detailer meant to be used instead of washing the car, or is it meant for use after the car is washed and dried to be like a quick wax/polish?

2) does it make the car's finish feel like that just-waxed slipperriness? ( not sure if that is a word )

nxt detailer

I've had my 05 blk/blk mcs for a month now. The dealer used NXT Tech Wax paste for delivery, and I've been following up with Turtle Wax Car Wash and NXT Detailer. We have very hard water here, so no matter how I dry the car-- towel, chamois, even the leaf blower, I still get water spots. NXT Detailer with a microfibre towel is what I use to remove them. The car has a beautiful 'wet' look when I'm done. At first, I squirted a bit too much on, and it streaked and my towels got all wet too quick. Now I used the stuff sparingly; it works perfectly.

It's also a great bug remover for the bonnet and grill. If the car is dusty, I use my California Duster and then a quick app of NXT

One product I have always loved is the Meguires Deep Crystal System #2 Polish. It's part of a set that they've been selling for a few years now, although each piece is sold separately. It includes #1 Paint Cleaner, the #2, and #3 Wax. The wax is a liquid carnuba, not a poly. Like most carnubas, it goes on ok, looks great, and lasts about a month, depending on the weather.

So today or tomorrow, I plan on washing, using the #2 polish one or two apps, and then sealing it with the NXT Tech Wax Paste. I'll keep using the NXT Detailer in between.

There were over 200 cars at the show, and the class in which my MINI was entered was very competitive (Jaguars, Mercedes, Porsche, tricked-out Scions). Let's just say that the Meguiar's NXT Speed Detailer made my girl Shine through the competition...right down to her toes. We placed!

Does this NXT speed detailer make the car feel slippery like it was just waxed? And is it meant to be used instead of a full washing, or is it meant to be ued after the car is washed and dried to sort of a wax boost

Just like the Quick Detailer, it "enhances gloss and protection while removing fresh contaminants quickly and easily to maintain a show car shine. Even when used daily, Speed Detailer will not leave a hazy residue thanks to the advanced formulation .... Use Speed Detailer in between applications of NXT Generation Tech Wax or NXT Generation Spray Wax to optimize your car's shine, gloss, and protection."

That's right off the bottle.

One week before the show, my MINI had been clay-barred, and two coats of Tech Wax applied. I washed it the night before the show, then used Speed Detailer once I got to the site.

I guess what I mean is that if you've used the NXT Tech wax and now a month later some of the slickness feel is gone, will the NXT Speed Detailer restore that slick just waxed feel? The regular meguir's QD doesn't add much slickness at all

In general, if you use the Speed Detail or the Quick Detail, if it is slow to wipe off, it's time for another coat of wax. The Detail products will restore some of the slick feel & shine, but nothing will protect your car like wax. All I can say is, buy a bottle and give it a test.
