I was at the St. Louis Euro Meet yesterday where this MINI was entered and I was walking amongst the cars with a buddy, sort of in a daze when I came upon this one which happened to have it's hood open, I commented to my friend, "Jeez, this is REALLY nice!" He comes back to me, "yea this is Adam's". I bolted back at him, "You mean 'Our' Adam?" (meaning the Adam in our MINI club) and he said, "Sure!". Dang!
I think I need to get to work, or keep my hood closed.
Brad

A man after my own heart! Great job Adam! I have the same color scheme/year Cooper-minus stripes & moonroof. Please tell me one thing, how do you keep the engine area so clean?

It's amazing how these things look new for so long - I'm coming from 100% American ownership previously - and the more beautiful examples like this I see, the more I love my decision! Nice ride!!
It makes the car even better when you realize that it's someone's daily driver that isn't kept in a hermetically sealed jar during the week and trailered to the shows.
I get more enjoyment from the finish on my old daily driver Altima (8 years old w/ 80,000 miles) than any show car I've seen in a long time.
Thanks for the pics....thats very encouraging for those of us struggling against the elements and all manner of adversity to keep our beloved MINIs pristine! Great job!!
You've got a great classic in the works there, Adam!
(Do you have the clear bra on the front? If not, do you touch up any nicks?)
I do not have a clear bra. To add to the fun of this, I BOUGHT MY MINI USED! 19K on the clock. So, there were already chips, nicks, etc. I don't want to put a clear bra on at this point. Yes, I fill chips and touch up as much as a can.
Thanks to BradB (surprise, surprise) I now know how to fill in chips well. Use artist's brushes (do not use the brush supplied with the touch-up paint!), thin the paint a little bit with thinner, clean the chip, and fill until a little mound is there. After they dry, there is a product that will flatten the touch-up down to the surface height. Polish and wax over. Done.
I'm sure Brad can add much, much more to this!
