Stripes: Care and Feeding

I just got my bonet stripes on my month old mini. Dealership service gal said "don't put anything on them". She said the black color of the stripe could fade. I asked if I could use detailing spray and she NO.

Any clues to this one?

Chili Red S w/Black Bonet Stripes.

I have polished/glazed mine every time I polish/glaze the car.
I have had the stripes and vinyl window treatments on for two years now, and believe this has prevented them from fading.

I second that, the stripes need to be polished just like the paint to keep them looking new.
