Water Stained Black Body Trim

Any secrets on how to remove the water stains from the plastic black body trim at the front of the door(s), where the water drains down from the roof and bonnet? I've tried Mothers Back to Black, but it only covers up the stains, does not remove (looks good otherwise). Thanks, Jimbo

The very best vinyl/rubber cleaner I have used to-date is 1Z Plastik-Reineger. Made in Germany. Great stuff. I have used other cleaners, then followed up with this stuff and come away with a dirty rag!

I would use this and a SOFT brush to get into the pores of the plastic. Follow up with a quality dressing but NOT a "coating" like Back to Black.

Brad,

What is your recommended dressing for the exterior plastic? I'm particularly interested in what you use on the wheel arches (and under door panel if you don't have the aero kit).

I generaly apply the Zaino tire dressing to any exterior plastic/vinyl, but it seems to fade fairly quickly. 606 Protectant is supposed to do the same.
Any thoughts?

To be honest, I like quite a few. It depends on the level of gloss you like, and as you mentioned, the durability. For the Mini, I use Mothers Preserves Protectant. I like the shine level, medium gloss. And it's pretty black, no static and no buildup.

Vinylex has very similar characteristics. Slightly less durable than Mothers. More durable than 303. Shinier and blacker than 303.

I also just started using Einzett Rubber/Vinyl protectant. I can't say much about the durability yet. But I have had it on all the trim on my Carrera for a week and it hasn't dulled a bit. Very impressed. Satiny finish and rich looking. Goes on well. Very milky and smooth.
