1. Dawn wash-gets all the old wax off
2. Clay if you want - may not need to with a new car <6 mos. use car shampoo like you would if you were washing it as a lubricant for the clay- it should slide along the surface easily--shouldn't take that much pressure and only a pass or two- I can do my MINI in less than an hour and i'm seriously anal.
3. Polish - again may not need to with a new car, but it will make dark colors POP!! -- i did this on my Black Saab this weekend using Menzerna intensive polish with a rotary buffer then Menzerna Final polish with a random orbital buffer. --it takes out all the MINOR scratches and spiderwebbing, swirls, dull spots etc. it will NOT take out any scratches that you can feel with your fingernail, BUT it will minimize their appearance.
FWIW- when using a rotary buffer(not necessary BTW) I would recommend putting drop cloths on anything you arent immediately polishing--it spits little white dots everywhere and they are a PAIN to remove
4. Sealant--Klasse AIO or Zaino or something
5. Wax if you like the shine -carnuaba or the NXT
I personally am more concerned with protection than shine ( live on a mile long dirt road on Maine) so i go with multiple layers of sealant (Klasse SG)
Sealants will last 4-6 months so you only have to do this whole shmear twice a year.
then all you need to do is wash and maybe some carnuaba wax when you want the car to really shine.

I'm new to this, so sorry to interrupt, but shouldn't you rewash the car after claying?

yes and no. if you are using the detailing spray that they give you with the bar then yes if you are using the soapy water as i suggested then you dont have to.
wash after the polish step as well to get the residue off.
you can wash all you like actually if you have the time.
