How to paint and other some other random questions
With my Mini in the shop I have some time to think about my next repair. When I got the car the driver side door had a scratch and also window and power locks worked horribly if at all. Also I had a trunk lid with a dent in it, very odd looking dent but whatever. Both the door and the hatch came from a British Green R53. I was thinking of painting it myself, or I might bring it to a shop. I have some basic equipment for painting and can always borrow things from some shops I know. Is painting it myself worth it? Also if the door isn't that badly scratched should I just replace the window and locking mechanism?
Getting a call from Bmw this morning to hear about the progress they have made on my R53, hoping it is good.
Thanks

Frankly unless you are good at blending it in, simply painting the panels Hyper Blue wont likely work. You will probably notice a definite difference between new and old that only a skilled blend over the old panels would solve.
Get some local quotes....check with any 'car guy' friends. For example if you were in Columbus Ohio I have a guy who is fantastic at it and very reasonable on price usually.

Your car should be Indi Blue unless it was repainted by someone. Hyper Blue wasn't available in 2003. On the side of the passenger side strut tower by the windshield washer bottle there should be a sticker with the color of the car, or you can run your VIN to see the build specs.
