Opinions on the Detail Department at Schomp in Denver?
Preparing for my impending MINI. Been reading horror stories about some dealers detailing departments. I'd rather take the car right off the truck...and not let them touch it than have them do a poor job.
Does anybody here have an opinion based on experience of Shomp's detailing quality?
Thanks..there is no offense meant to Schomp..I have high regard for them...but I'd like to hear from people who've experienced their work.

Reason: Edited for clarity...original post gave wrong impression
Never met a dealer that I wanted to touch my car. They are in it for speed and low cost. Not the level of detail and quality that I want. Just my opinion.
Many dealers have connections to quality detailers but those are not the guys working on new car pickups.

Well that's my point....I edited the OP because I inadvertantly made it sound like I'd heard bad things about Schomp which I have not....the input I have is about dealers in general.
Do dealers get wierd about releasing a car without it going through their Detail Gauntlet?
Is it possible to really evaluate the car before acceptance if they haven't done it up first. I mean if you're the one taking off the plastic, how do you then prove that the large gouge wasn't something that you put there. If they've removed all the protective covering and cleaned it ...then you get to inspect it for damage and have a leg to stand on if you find any.
I wonder if they'd compromise by taking off the protectants and washing it but no more....

I think you should just let them prep it like they normally do. Then check it out very carefully before accepting delivery. Make sure they list all cosmetic issues that need to be addressed in writing before accepting delivery.
My new MCS was detailed by RS last Sat, and it was uneven: the exterior they did well, but I have the CR color-coded interor and what ever they used left a sloppy dried residue all over the red, esp noticable in the direct sunlight. When I took off the airbag sticker it was pristine underneath. Generally, RS was the best car buying experience ever for me--and I used to sell cars. Nice to know what you're going to pay less than 5 minutes in the door. Good people. Jimbo
