I just got and used Meguiars gold class trim detailer. its for all the outside plastic and rubber, and it worked wonders, much better than the standard vinyl and plastic treatments I've attempted to use on the oustide plastic (cough armor all cough).
I also had the stupid white residue, but now its gone (permanently). and application of the stuff is very quick and painless and provides uv protection. A much better option than taping of all of the trim! HAHAHAH! ...seriously, that must really suck.
