"Wipe New"

It's supposed to restore and protect exterior plastics, interior plastics vynll and leathers. They wear gloves in the tv commercials, so must be pretty strong. Anyone try it yet?

For exterior plastic, you can't beat Black Wow. It's $30 for 4 ounces and worth every nickel.

So, I wouldn't poo-poo this stuff because of the cost. I'd poo-poo it until I found a reputable source who says it's effective.

I love how these products, through the miracle of TV, can seem like a miracle cure, but check the fine print.

Consumer Reports, May 2014, page 53, "Spruce up your trim" tested 5 exterior trim cleaners: Turtle Wax Premium Grade Trim Restorer, Wipe New, Mother Back-To-Black, Mequirar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer, and ReNu Finish. Unfortunately, Black Wow was not tested. The secret for all the products tested was surface prep!

The two top brands were:

Wipe New: "This brought back a rich, dark finish and maintained that look throughout our test without added applications. But a small 1.5-ounce bottle cost us $18."

ReNu Finish: "Like Wipe New, this product provided a like-new look that lasted much longer than the other three cleaners. But, we got only 1.75 ounces for our $15."

I bought Wipe New at Wal-Mart for $15, but did not check to see if ReNu Finish was even available.

So what's the best way to prep the trim, other than Prewow (which I don't have)? I'm thinking of a 50-50 mix of water and alcohol with a microfiber of soft brush.

I use Blackwow and love it.

Would be good to hear directly from somebody that has used Wipe New. My local wally world has it for less than $15.00.

I have applied Wipe New on 2 different cars, so far. Works great. My E46 had wax residue on the black trim. After Wipe New you could not see the residue anymore. Sold the car to second person that looked at it. I applied the Wipe New to my R60 a few days later. I have washed it at least 10 times or more and the trim still looks fantastic. In my eyes it looks better then new. It's easy to apply and easy to keep off the paint. So don't worry about the harsh warning, just be careful. I still on my first bottle. I sure I have more than enough left to do my truck. I paid less then $13 at Wally world. It is worth all of that and more.

Great. Finally some input from somebody that has actually used the product. That is what I was looking for!

I agree with Twin2turbo putting the wipe new was not hard, just took more time. I have used several other products that also worked well. However wipe new seemed to last a lot longer than other similar products. (black wow, ultimate black, etc)

I have a motor home on a Ford chassis. It is under cover but the frond end faces the sun most of the day. The grey rubber part of the bumper was badly faded. I put Wipe New on it last year. Still looks great. Haven't used it on my F56 yet but will soon.

I ran out of my Black Wow ....great product...was going to order more but then saw the TV Wipe New spot and saw the product at AutoZone so bought it ...was put off by the scary directions and disclaimers .....but a colleague said he used it and works well and was easy ...so since i already opened it and could not return it I tried it ...went on just like the black wow .....works very well ...so far .....but will re-order the black wow when this runs out since that product is less worrisome about getting it on glass or paint

OctaneGuy, is this the same stuff the guy's girlfriend put on his motorcycle causing you to have to do some serious repair?
