So when I finally pick up my new DS/DS MCS, I'm going to dive into detailing it.
I've got the wash with dawn first, use claybar, etc.
but I need to ask, since polish compounds work to get swirl marks out,,wouldn't my new car not need to have polish coat since it's new? I figure wash and wax? or does each process build on the previous for that lushious shine?

Most new cars get pretty dirty in transportation. I generally recommend using a pre-wax cleaner or detailing clay on a new car to remove the layer of film built-up in transit. This way your first layer of wax will be on a perfect finish.

I thought that for a new car you need to wait about 3+ months for the paint to cure and harden before you wax it for the first time. Regular weekly washing and a polish like Zaino should be OK.

All modern paints are fully cured within 30 days. Don't wait to wax!

What kind of pre-wax cleaner? Like Klasse All-In-One? Would that work?

There's no need to polish a new car. You're right- polishing is for swirl marks, scratches, etc... For a new car, clay bar & a good wax are all you really need to do after you bring it home.
