Best way to clean plastic trim?

I've seen a lot of info on threads about how to clean wax out of the plastic trim. I did get wax on my trim when I first got my Clubman a little over a year ago (used Banana Gloss all over the trim). I used peanut butter, and it helped a lot. I've also been using Black Wow, and it's been pretty good.

We just had a ton of rain and messiness, and I finally got to wash my car. The plastic trim under the doors was especially filthy from all of the dirt and road grime.

So my question is...how does everyone get the plastic trim clean from dirt and grime? Does the trim get much dirt trapped in it if you haven't had wax in the trim? I'm wondering if the initial wax application is causing dirt to stick in the trim more than if there had been no wax in it. I've just been washing the car as usual, and trying to scrub the trim, but the dirt usually comes right back.

Garage
For cleaning areas that require a little more scrubbing than normal I use this...Tim's Dirty Spots Micro Fiber Wipe Down Towel, you can find it at www.griotsgarage.com!!

I've used BW on my trim, but I also use 303 Aerospace Protectant, and Prima Nero, my Trim is beading up really nice so I've not had to do a whole BW Treatment in quite sometime.

What applicator are you using?? And when are you applying BW?? I use a Yellow Round Foam Pad, and if you apply BW before you wash, while you are washing you will be cleaning off any excess that might atract dirt. Just something to think about !!

Thanks for your reply.

I have been applying BW after washing (which from reading the forums I see is not the best idea). I use a microfiber foam pad.

So do you mainly use the Nero or the 303? I have used 303 on my interior and have been pretty happy with it, but haven't tried it on the exterior trim.

How dirty does your trim get, particularly after a bout of rainy, muddy weather? I'm wondering if the Banana Gloss I initially put on my trim (talk about regret) is causing more dirt to stick to it. I feel strange putting BW or any other protectant on the trim when there is still some visible dirt trapped in it.

BTW...love, love, love the Oxygen Blue!

I take an old damp MF towel and wipe down the trim before applying the BW.
