So now that we've established that, we can move on and end this childish back and forth behavior that didn't exist in Detailing101 until you both came here.
Richard (One Pro that used Prima before he started selling it)
It didn't exist because the only products promoted are Prima.....
Funny how strongly you reacted to a differing opinion.
Personally I don't expect my car to be showtime perfect, but I really do like it to look really good. I suspect I am not alone in this! I am not a professional, and I guess my standards are just different than others. Witness the build up I got around my clearbra when I got carried away last time (lesson learned).
I use Prima, and have for several years now, for multiple reasons. I think it does a great job making my car look very good, and as I continue to learn how to use it, it gets better. Is it show quality? No, but that reflects on my performance more than the Prima products I use. I simply don't want to put the time and effort into making it perfect. I also use Prima because I really like Heather and Nick. I like the way they do business, I like the way they support people like me, and I like being able to ask them questions that always get quick and helpful replies. I also like doing whatever I can to help someone that works hard to have a successful small business. I have never met/seen anyone from Griots or Maguiar's, never been able to call them to ask a question, and I have never seen them donating free product as Detailer's Paradise does at MITM (and probably other events as well). They (AND Octane Guy!) have gone out of their way to teach me and others how to use their products more effectively.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I have never used Griot's (although I did turn down some free product a friend offered to give me because he didn't want it), and I can't say if it makes my car look better. I have used Maguiar's product, but seem more gimmicky than anything, to me. I do feel however, that both companies depend on major marketing efforts to be successful, while DP tends to be far more personal, and depends mostly on product performance and word of mouth. I prefer the personal approach.
In short, Prima gives me everything I want. Others may give me the same, but they don't give me the service, support, and help I get from DP, OG, and other users.
well griot's does have freebies, detailing clinics, etc. just register your email and they will keep you posted on where they'll be attending in your area. you'll also get their nice catalogs in the snail mail from time to time.
last time i went over to a ferrari dealer to watch the griot's guys do a how-to clinic. pretty good stuff. lots of friendly people there too. i just felt out of place since im very poor and dont drive Ferrari's like them... but that didn't stop me. i asked several questions and got constructive responses.
customer service have been top notch for me as well over the phone and email.
i just like griots because they have a total solution including my garage accessories. they are NOT replacements for Prima though. Prima has their own line up of goodies that is very original and unique. this is why i use both.

Boy you are new. Some of us have been on this forum for years, and if you took the time, you would see that we have not always had Prima as a sponsor. We talk about many different products. We also tend to help each other, and poke fun at each other in a friendly way. If you don't like the sponsors, or us, the folks who contribute to the different discussions, then move on.

Exactly why I use Zaino........easy to use, great support, family owned business and it looks great with very little effort.
after using my usual Griot's paint sealant i always use Hydro to calm down the super shinyness my sealant brings. it's the same plastic shine zaino brings. its like a mirror finish where a black car almost turns invisible.
with Hydro i can tame that down to a nicer deeper gloss and rid some of that surface shine so that the paint color comes through with more depth.
That's not exactly a ringing endorsement of Hydro. I would want a spray wax or spray detailer to increase shine, not reduce it. The Griots sealant is worth a look though.
That's assuming that SHINE is everything. A lousy finish that shines bright is still a lousy finish, but a finish that shines and shows color and depth is the winning combination especially on a dark color.

Actually there are several types of "shine" and "shine" alone is not what I want. Kinda like playing with your EQ on your stereo there's the mello sound and bright sound and all sorts of other sounds. Wax/polymer is the same way with different "response curves" in the visual spectrum.
As with sound, not all of us like bright sound. Hydro is like a tube compressor if we are talking music equipment.
Zaino is like a hyper processed BBE sound and for some folks that sounds great. For me, I'm more of an analog guy.
