OK, so I was cleaning and waxing my car this past weekend and I used the highly reccomended ZAIMOL cleaning wax.
Well, it doesnt do well on the black plastic moldings, and is hard to get off. Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the wax? What else can one use to enhance the black trim?

Also, when I was washing and rubbing over the gasport door cover it came off! It seems this plate is not permenantly affixed, but rather snapped into the gasport door hinge. Whats up with that? Has anyone had this happen? And what shoudl I do about making this secure?

And one last little peeve. The rubber cover on the clutch pedal came off.

Other than that I love this car and it was sooooo much fun driving out to Chicago this past week.\
On my return, It handled extremely well in the rain which was 90% of the time. 16 Hours! No layovers.

I use a product made by Mother's called "Back to Black" for all the exterior black trim. It says on the bottle that you can use it on interior items such as vents and so forth but I haven't tried it yet. But as far as the black trim going around the car, it has worked great. I think I got it at Pep Boys for about 5 or 6 bucks.

I just used Back to Black this weekend and it works great. I also got some wax on the molding and this seemed to work great in hidding the wax residue. The onlt concern i have is that it rained very hard here in seattle yesterday and when i went to fill my car up with gas tonight i noticed on the edges that i can see alittle bit of the wax showing through again. The product did say that more than one application might be nessesary.

It's been said before- and it really does work- as far as getting the wax off, peanut oil works great.

Zymol Cleaner Wax is more of a light oxidation/light scratch removal polish. It contains silicone, which is the white residue is leaves on the black plastic and in your body panel cracks. Very yukkie! To remove, do what Pook said, use peanut oil (or peanut butter), the enzymes in there will strip off the wax.

Stay away from Silicone-based waxes in the future for basic protection; use Zymol's premium line (like Creme, Carbon, Concours), Pinnacle's line, Zaino, P21S, and the like of high quality waxes. Rule of thumb; if you can get it (wax) in a regular auto-parts store, it's crap!
