Detailing from a theraputical standpoint
Detailing or other similar projects can be very therapeutical if you let it utilizing the entire body as you work. First do everything the old fashioned way - by hand and use both hands and arms ambidextrously. Reach and stretch and put vigor into you moves, working up a sweat. Use a little upbeat music and get physical with bending, reaching, and strectching as you make your car dazzle. Beside feeling great when you are done physically seeing what you just accomplished does wonders for you mental outlook as well.
I am a physical therapist specializing in postural alignment and I urge my clients to "put themselves into" whatever they do, but most of all don't sit around. DO something.
Try it - you'll LOVE detailing.

I get a good work out even though I use a PCDA.
I did our Expedition once by hand and needed a postural re-alignment.
I'm sticking with a machine!

I find detailing is mentally and emotionally therapeutic as well. Nothing is better than wiping down my MINI with a soft cloth and Hydro. When done I toss the cloth on the bonnet and watch it slide right off! Much cheaper than a therapist.
