paint chipped to bare metal!!
I use chipped loosely because the 'chips' are only on the roof. I'm pretty sure it was burned on the fourth of July by some rouge fireworks by those crazy kids at a 4th of july party (I was at )shooting those large motor shells and having at least two of them kicked over with my mini parked nearby.
Anyways, I was wondering if I should act on them immediately to prevent rust?
the chips are on the roof, there are about 5-6 of them and they are very small like rock chips, and the roof is black.
Since the roof is black what is my best course of action to preserve the high shine value without having dabs of blackish goo speckling the roof
edit: I have attached an image taken rather close up of one of the chips, in reality it is no larger than 1/8th of an inch

i dont think fireworks will do that kind of damage zach999. my x5 suffered the same way from an idiot during 4th of july. Melted the paint, but not to that extreme. Try this product as I have really great luck with it... http://www.langka.com/
Hope that helps!

have you used it with success on black paint? I'm sure you know how reflective black can be. Thanks for the response

with a small chip like yours...it will surely blend in. IMO - lanka is better than touch up paint.

+1 on Langka
actually there are several products that are GREAT for small chips, especially those to bare metal. Another I like is "Dr Color Chip". I've used it w/ such success that I could not for the life of me find where the chip was after I fixed it.

Anyone know how a product like drcolorchip may compare to the factory (mini) paint pens? I have a small chip and I need to fix it before I put a clear bra on my mini.

Do you need to use any sort of primer before this kind of stuff? We have a few chips in out new baby, but she is on a cargo ship en route to Hawaii (we are moving there next month.) I'm worried the salt water will have its way with the chipped areas before I can fix them.
And do you guys wax right over this stuff?

if it's down to the metal you should use primer before applying touchup paint.
yes, you can wax it after 2-3wks dry time.
