Bird with a bad diarrhea problem hit the top of my black convertible roof while "Randolph Wadsworth Cooper" was parked at the train station yesterday. By the time I got home, about 1/8 of the roof was covered with bird crap. Most of it was dry.
The only way I could get it off was to use a nylon brush with car wash soap, and I got 99.99% of it off (still a few spots where I couldn't get it all off). Any suggestions on how to deal with this in the future? And, do I now have to treat the top with RaggTopp (or something similar) since I have read that I shouldn't use car wash soap on a convertible roof.

303 Fabric Cleaner with same nylon brush (one with soft ends) will work very well. Murray's had it last time I was there. Spray a bottle of 303 Protectant on it when you're done and all you'll have to do after that is hose it down with H2O, maybe brush it a little.
Disclaimer: I don't have a cabrio, but did this to my mom's Jag a while ago and it worked really well.
I'm going to +1 for the 303 Fabric Cleaner. I use it on my top just before I retreat (twice a year). Then I would retreat using 303 Fabric Guard and a brush. Pour the 303 into a wide mouth container and paint it on the top after it has dried. It is best to do this on a hot, sunny day as the 303 will cure better and last longer. The last gift I received from a bird just wiped right off.

You can buy it on line from www.detailersparadise.com or from 303 direct at http://www.303products.com/shop303/index.cfm. If you're buying 303 products be sure to consider their 303 Protectant as well as their 303 Aerospace Cleaner and 303 Wiper Treatment. They are all great detailing products.
DP sells 303. I got it from them the first time. It's a little cheaper, and if you get it with other stuff (which, who can resist), it makes sense w/ shipping. When I needed more I just went down the street to Murray's and paid the extra $1 to have it in hand, no shipping. They had most of the 303 products at the one here. I haven't looked at other auto parts/supply stores, but you could just call around.
