Well, there are a lot of downsides actually ie high price of parking, insane traffic, pot holes, dings in the garages and on and on. But what I really am going to miss when I get my new mini sidewalk is washing and detailing.
Ive always found it very relaxing to wash my car when I lived at home when I was a teenager. It was always fun for me. It is against the law to wash your car in manhattan using any type of soap. It gets into the water supply i guess.
Need? Don't really need for city driving, but I travel out of the city often on weekends driving to different bluegrass festivals around the country. Love it.

You need to include visits to fellow MINI owners with car washing facilities (i.e. a driveway) in your festival travel schedule.

That's a great testament to the MINI!

do your park your sidewalk on the sidewalk? or do you have covered parking? welcome to the forum i'm sure you'll find ways to keep your car looking fresh without the soapy wash. maybe OG can weigh in some advice.
I dont park the "sidewalk" on the Sidewalk, although that is pretty funny. I have a garage in my building I use. On another forum, I wanted to know if anyone uses ding protectors that magnetically attach to the sides of the car. I wanted to use that when I park the car in the garage only. That is where I will most likely get dings. Still wish I could wash it

Griot's (and I'm sure others) has ding protectors that can hang from the ceiling. So if you have assigned parking and the building people are ok with that, go for it.
Otherwise, the first ding is very painful. I like to think of them as battle scars.
