Yes, one of my problem areas as well. I spend considerable time using Swirl on a 3" white pad to get all the swirls out. Those and the boot are always my worst areas as far as swirls go.
are those pillar covers painted? if not, you should go another couple more
rounds with the swirl and orange pad cause you're not going to 'burn through' anything...
anyone know if they are indeed a painted finish or just a polished molding?
i used Polish3 (griots) and wax. looks good, but does have some light
swirls in there if you look at it in the sun.
The R56 pillars (front and rear) seem to be the same as the A pillars on the 1st Gen MINIs. I wouldn't use anything more aggressive than a white pad and Swirl. Although to be quite honest, on several of the pillars I worked on at the Dragon, a few seconds of the rotary with the white pad and Swirl produced a crystal clear shine while several minutes on the PC produced haze. This was only on the R56 pillars---that combo works great on the 1st gens. Maybe white pad and Finish if it doesn't finish out as well. Definitely using the smaller pads/backing plate helps when polishing these areas.

OctaneGuy,
I am going to assume if you can use a white pad and Swirl, then it should be fine to clay the [ABC]-pillars and Epic them. I just got a new Clubman and am about to clay it for the first time and am wondering about the safety of claying the shiny new black pillars.
[side note: Thanks for being my clay source - I ordered from you last week!]
OOh you were the clay order, coool. =) Thank you!!!
Yep, no problem about claying and Epic'ing the pillars. In fact you should.
