So I put the Prima products to the test on my black roof today. While this was not my first experience with the PC, It was certainly the most involved process to date. I had my first use of the pc last fall for an Amigo plus epic shortly after purchasing. This is my first encounter with the more agressive polishes. So here is breakdown of what I did.
Wash and Claybar
Masking (I have a sunroof)
Swirl + Orange pad
Finish + White
Amigo + White
2 coats of Epic.
This amounted to being quite a bit of work, so I'm glad I left the Red alone for now. I'm still very new to this and it's really been a learning process for me, so just focusing on the roof made it feel less overwhelming to me. I also had a lot of what seemed to be pollen dust collecting on the car as I worked, so that was really annoying, if you look closely it's all over the hood. While I certainly did not get the finish to 100% perfect, I'll say that overall it is vastly improved and I'm quite happy. So now I look forward to tackling the Chili red.
Before...Bleh!!! swirls, water spots, some light scratches.
After

Thanks for all the compliments, and yes I did eventually shave that evening It wasn't until the end of the day that I finally had some direct sun light to get some pictures with. But it was a nice warm overcast day up until the evening. At one point after my Finish step I had my shop light out to help find the imperfections in the piant, I was surprised at all the very tiny swirl marks that I could not see otherwise, I think the Amigo and Epic do a good job of covering up most of that stuff and I was not sure how much of it I could polish out.

Great work, amazingrando!! That is quite a contrast indeed!
I think you will find that a long day like this has helped your overall learning curve more than you probably realize right now. Of course, machine polishing can take many hours no matter what experience you have, but your enjoyment and final results will get better and better each time. (and you can cut some of the time too!)

When he says he masked because he has a sunroof, he's talking about the felt edging. You don't want to get polish or wax on that, it's a bear to get off. DEFINITELY clay the glass, especially if it's not crystal clear. And yes, you can polish it and wax it, too. Me... I just clay it and then use Clarity maintain it.
Nice job. I tend to do our MINIs in sections over several days. That way I don't feel so rushed, and my poor old back does not get worn out. The trick to doing it that way is to do the whole process to each section. Then I put another coat of Epic on the whole car when doing the final section.
^^^ A little NAM trick, you can edit your own posts after you submit them, and if you do it within a minute, the little edit box at the bottom of the post won't even show up, so only you know you goofed
