No hose

Ok so I tried to find this, but I couldn't find it.

I have no hose at my apartment...

I am getting sick of using the stupid car wash manual bays because I can't actually wash it.

So my solution:

5 1/2 gallon bucket dumped on the roof another bucket to splash around the rest.

Proceed with normal 2 bucket method + separate bucket and brush for wheels.

Finish with a 3 bucket brigade of water to rinse.

Cali jelly blade (I know some hate this I may change my mind)

MF cloths + quick detail to finish her off.

What do you think?

College student=I am lucky to be able to afford a car and food.

It only holds 3.5 gal wouldn't 2 5 1/2 gal. buckets do at least as good until I can afford something better?

Put a coat of Epic on your car and use some Speed Shine or other QD to keep the car clean. I am amazed at how well Epic keeps the dust of a car!

Bam!

The nice thing about this is they are all 12v so you can run it off your MINI. That said you might want to look into building your own with a higher flowing pump.

However If you wanted to be really old fashioned about it you could just stick one of those tanks a couple feet off of the ground and let gravity do the work.

60 PSI is only slightly more powerful than what a bug sprayer can do--you'll be highly frustrated trying to wash a MINI this way.

3.5 Gallons provides about 10 minutes of hosing. With 3.5 gallons, I could hose off a dirty SUV and a MINI and do a final rinse after soaping on the MINI--with another gallon or so of water, I could finish off the SUV. The washer combined with a spare bucket with a few gallons of water will give you more water if you need it, but highly unlikely.

So no, it isn't equivalent to pouring buckets of water, lol. But atleast you'll know what to save up for this summer.

I know it is also inconvenient but wouldn't it be simpler to find a DYI car wash bay that has a parking lot next to it where you can dry it off and apply wax or what ever there?....if you bring a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend with you, you could wash /dry/ wax in no time...there's gotta be some DYI car washes in the vicinity, right?

in the winter up here in the northeast when I've shut off my outside faucets, I go to a DYI and I bring a bunch of gallon jugs filled with water and 2 empty buckets and fill the buckets while in the bay and add the car soap to one of them even before I put the quarters in the machine, and then start the wash procedure leaving the machine on 'rinse only'

Try looking up the local club and talk to the members. I am sure one of them would be willing to let you use the driveway to wash your MINI. All it would cost is a six pack or some food to grill.

There is a local member there that made me that offer, but he usually provides the beer and the good. I am very lucky! I just provide the detail products/services.

All ideas are great,

The DIY bay is what I have been using, I may have to try your idea kind of a combination, at least use a good stream to rinse.

I have a good base wax on it, the problem is when it rains and then mud/road crap gets on it. This happens at least once a week.

Sounds like I may try the bucket idea until I can afford the sprayer. worst case I have to go to the DIY bay to rinse off.

Local club members are an option, but I feel like I would be going too often and would be a pain.

Thanks for all the input, I'll let you know how it goes.

I was so OCD that I would do the 2 Bucket Method on my RIP '96 Chevy 1500 when I did not have a hose. I also used Hot Water in the PNW Winters!!

I am sure I am in the minority, but I had a great time washing with buckets only. It was a long day and I was trapped inside the whole day great stress relief.

I wet it down with 4, 5 1/2 gal buckets. (I have three so I just filled them each up once and had to only make one extra trip.

Then I washed it with the two bucket shin dig. Rinsed with a three bucket barrage and then cleaned the rims with the left over soapy water. (I know most do this first but this is how I did it and it worked well, all part of my plan.) Then I filled each bucket up again and gave another three bucket splash fest.

Then I continued with the cali jelly blade then a shammie to start drying, then a microfiber to finish drying.

Then used QD and my Micros just for that to give it a nice polish.

Second to last clean window, last treat the plastic and finish cleaning the rims.

I had fun and it took me about 1 1/2 hours only

P.S. Thanks for making me OC about this, hopefully it doesn't rain for a few days so all I have to do is the cali duster.
