I have been using Zaino products for a long time, very happy with the results. I would like to also add paint protection. Can I use a wax on top of two or three coats of Zaino? Which brand would you recommend?
Would it be polish couple of times a year and waxing once every couple of months?
Paint protection from???? Zaino does protect your paint despite it being called a polish.

i thought polish offered very little if any protection. The reason I ask is I live in Colorado and would like to protect the finish from sun fading, sand that they use on the roads, dust etc.
It depends on how you define what a polish is. Zaino calls their product a "polish" which is really a synthetic polymer wax or a sealant. Most everyone else defines a polish as a product that is used to remove defects, swirls, etc.. and offers no protection which is then followed by a wax to protect it.

do you mean that Zaino is somewhere in the middle? Removes swirls etc but also protects the paint? I guess I will continue with only Zaino if that is the case. I have been very happy with the results, anything from an 80's p-car to the 05 cooper.
No I mean that Zaino mislabeled their product or maybe just decided to go against accepted industry standards cause they wanted to be different, and called their products a polish. Before Zaino PC came out, their products didn't remove swirls, they masked/concealed them with fillers. That's why with a brand new car, Zaino is so popular--it conceals minor defects, but after a few years, you really need to remove the deep swirls, then use Zaino again.
If you're happy with Zaino, no need to change. It's a good product that's durable and looks great.

Ditto what OG said - a true polish removes defects using abrasive (and sometimes chemical) action, but will leave absolutely *nothing* behind after you remove it, so no lasting protection.
When I painted my last motorcycle, I wet-sanded and polished in-between clearcoats, so I was actually spraying paint onto freshly-polished panels. If you try to do that over something like Zaino, you'd end up with a bubbled, fisheyed, flaking mess.
Zaino's great (although it's not my favourite), but it shouldn't be confused with a true polish, regardless of what they call it.
