Help! Little scratches.

I washed the car today at a self serve unit to get the grunge off it. Now there are 2 scratches on the black roof (probably from the hoses that go over it to spray). It's not added stuff because I can't get it off with paint cleaner. One's the size of a quarter and the other are 2 lines about 8 inches long. What do I use to buff them out and make 'em go away? (I can't take pix because of the reflection). I don't have a machine, just the usual mf cloths and applicators. Thanks, I just wanna fix this thing.

scratch-x and a foam applicator should do the trick. give it some

BigNewt, did you ever get those scratches off? I just found a scuff mark on the back of my mini today and can't figure out where it came from. It's not a scratch so I'm wondering the best way to get rid of that would be. It's only visible when the sun hits it on directly. By the way, has anyone ever heard of the commercial power washer guns being rough on the paint?

thanks

If you don't have a PC or any machine, just follow Ken's advice, some ScratchX about 5-6 applications, then wax afterwards.

Scratch-X is a polish. You should be able to get it at most auto stores or even Target or Wal-Mart.

A foam pad is...well, a foam pad. Again, auto store or auto section of a big-box store should have them as well.

If you mean wand wash coin car washes, as long as you keep the end of the nozzle about 2 feet off the paint they won't hurt anything.

You can do real damage with a pressure washer though, even the home handy guy ones if you aren't careful.
