nicely done. if you think the depth and optical clarity are great now with a couple of coats, wait until you have 10+ coats. cheers!

Since my paint was realative swirl free at 10k miles, I decided to go with the Z2 for each of the coats. I probably wont use the Z5. Was this a mistake? Should have I use the Z5?

You're fine with the Z2 by itself. For some reason, and it's not in any of Sal's tips, the combo of Z2 and Z5 gives me unbelievable depth. Could be just my imagination though. But if you happen to have a bottle of Z5, give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

I got the Zkit which includes both the Z5 and Z2. I was worried that the Z5 might take off the Z2 since it appears to be a stonger polish. Dare I try?

You should definitely give it a try. I've been layering Z2/Z5 combo for a couple of years now with great success. Z5 will not strip Z2. Go for it.

Yes, the ZFX came with the kit.
ZKit from Zaino

I just tried the Z5 over the roof section and you know how the applicator turns pink with the Z2? The Z5 turned it blue and brown. It looked like the applicator was picking up more than just the Z5. Even though it is easy to apply, I just hate seeing all that work go down the drain. I'm going to let the roof cure and remove it and compare it to the rest of the car...

z5 is for swirls but also adds depth (i'm too lazy to go check on my bottle but i believe it does say it on there). But I have never been happy with the depth it gives...better then just z2 alone but if you want great depth top off the zaino with some p21s...gives alot better depth then z5 ever will. I love zaino - just never been happy with either z5 or their clay(claymagic or mothers clay is better imo). The z5 only hides very fine swirls..very very very fine swirls....3m SMR works much better on fine swirls.

casey: yes, but the p21s doesn't have the permanency of any of the zaino polishes. to each his own, i guess.

dominic: trust me the Z5 is not striping the Z2. that ZFX is some great stuff huh?

fins - sure it doesn't last as long as zaino - but as far as a carnuaba wax it lasts about the longest. When it wears away you still have the zaino underneath kicking hard and strong protecting your car....if you want to remove the p21s simply wash the car with dawn as that will remove wax but not zaino. I've been doing the zaino/p21s combo for awhile and love it. All I do is zaino up the car with about 6-8 coats over a couple weekends..then top it off with p21s and come back and put another coat of p21s on each 2-3 months...and once a year wash with dawn and put a few more coats of zaino on and then p21s again on top. If you want to remove everything wash with dawn and clay.

Yeah, Ron, I love that top pix too. It just shows how clean the car is and how simple jooking a good polish can make it. Just a solid yellow area. It looks like it was computer generated, eh?

fins car has a darker color so it becomes more mirror-like than the light yellow (liquid yellow) of my MINI. That's my ONLY regret of owning a light color. Other than that, I LOVE my Liquid Yellow!

casey, you make a good point. and i'm sure your method works great. it's just that over the years i've gotten in the habit of 100% Zaino products on my cars. either way, our cars will always look great because we're all too fanatical about our detailing habits!!!!!

Thanks! I think the end result will look even better in the AM after it has fully cured. Each coat of Z2 and Z6 needed to sit a while before their effect really set in. So I'm hoping for even more depth from the Z5 application I just put on.

Re: ZFX, I have nothing really to compare it too since I never had to use the Z1 or use the Z2 without it. I know its supposed to LOCK the Z2 onto the car, but other than that I'm not sure.

fins - you got that right - 99% of the end result on how well it looks is how much effort you put into it.

I had a dark silver S and just zaino on that worked great...i now have a Jet Black S and it seems to work better with the p21s.

Speaking of zaino - i think the product they make i love the most is the tire gloss....works great...gives a nice flat black clean look...not that cheapy armour all shiney as crap look.

so, how'd the Zaino do for you in the AM?

here's another trick: mix the Z2 & Z5 50/50 with ZFX then spray with Z6 works wonders also. remember a little goes a long way!
