Touch up Paint

Ok, so I looked at several sites that people had listed here for touch up paint for MINIs. But I can't find my color on any of them... My MINI's "Black-Eye Purple Metallic." Should I just call the dealer to get it or is there somewhere else?

I would get it from the dealer...or, if you have a body shop you trust, they can mix it up custom, most of the time.

Rare color, nice MINI!

Bought a touch pen from www.autovisuals.com. Perfect match.

Another shout-out to Autovisuals. Got their touch pens and used them yesterday on some difficult stone chips. Following their instructions I applied the pens - very simple and perfect color match. I can't even see where the chips use to be!

Be sure to use primer before the touch up paint. After that, I would wet sand with 2500 grid, and then compound it. MAKE SURE your touch up is dried (I say wait for 1-2 days). If you are new to wet sand, Langka is good too.

I agree! We've seen consistent perfect color matching from Autovisuals. In fact, we're thinking about adding them to our site (once we figure out how best to do that with all the variations!). In the meantime, we definitely endorse them because of their quality (not to mention their "pen" style is easy to use!).

I picked up the mellow yellow for mine from the dealer. It came with 2 bottles, one with the yellow, one with clear coat. I've used it too and it matched perfectly.

I think I'll try the autovisuals

I got mine while still in Canada, I think it was about $11 Cnd. for a one ounce bottle. For the body colour and the clear coat, each that is.

I'm also going to recommend Autovisuals. I've never had any other touch up paint that was so easy to use. The pen is very convenient, even if you're just using it by itself. I also think it's a really good match (even for metallic paint). Much better than any other touch-up paint I've seen, even stuff from dealers.

Desert MINI just quoted me $28.50 + tax for the Hyper blue/clear coat combo.

Do you use the clear coat pen also?

I used the clear on mine for 1 chip I touched up on the bumper. Later the bumper got repainted through the dealer so my terrible touch up job ended up getting fixed nicely as well.

just ordered chili red from autovisuals.

Lets see how it goes.. I m not going to use it on outside though.. i m going to use it under the hood or inside of the doors where the factory missed some paint.. (thats just terrible btw) .. hopefully its a good match .. so when i have to use it on the outside.. it wouldn't be a problem.
