I have an etched water spot. I got rid of most of the other spots using Meguiars scratchx and then waxing it.. I tried scratchx on the etched one along with waxing but that didnt do much .. although it is lighter. You can only see it under certain light and its hard to notice but i would really like to remove it.
Does anyone know of a good detailer around baltimore?
Ahh ! you sound like an angel they talk about. Although I dont have any of those things. I wouldn't mind getting them. Just list the things out and I will bring them over
(I hope you are not kidding because I would really like to get it out :()
Sure its fine. But I don't have the stuff you have mentioned. I can probably get a clay bar from a store but I really doubt they will have prima swirl and orange lc pad along with 7424 orbital polisher.
I prefer the white german reislings .. but may be merlot will suit the occassion as we will be working on chilli red
Excellent... I'm experienced with removing etchings from Chili Red... had a flock of birds bomb me in the work parking lot recently. Hot summer day and the event must have happened in the a.m. as nothing short of claybar/PC/Swirl/Orange Pad would get them out. Had to detail the bonnet again, even though I had just done it.
It's all good... turned out even better than it was after the previous detailing.
At the risk of sounding like a total fool, do I need to wash it before I bring it to you? I just washed over the weekend and because of fall, its dirty again.
I really dont see how that water spot could have happened. all other spots were pretty superficial and a wipe with microfiber towel or scratchx just did the trick. I m beginnnig to think its been there from before.. ofcourse, its not visible under sunlight .. only if you flash a light at an angle.. I m beginning to think its just the way clear coat was affected although the etching is not there any more.. Well , you are the pro and i will let you see it
If it's just this one spot on the car you're worried about, you don't need to wash it. We'll just give it a hit with the PS21 Paintworks Cleanser to remove the wax. Then we'll try the claybar to see if that removes the etching. If not, then we'll go at that are with the buffer/Prima Swirl.
Before I give you my address to bring your MINI over, I have to ask a few questions:
1) Have you ever been indicted on a felony offense ?
2) Do you own any weapons other than a 7-iron or a Louisville Slugger ?
3) Have you failed a psychological evaluation within the past 5 years ?
You're a MINI owner and a member of NAM... good enough for me.
And no... I'm not a pro by any means. But I would bet good money I can get that etching out. My reputation as an OCDetailer is at stake here, you know.
Now that you mention, I should confess about that felony offense..
Kidding.
Although I did get a speeding ticket once about 6 yrs ago, if that counts for anything :P
Well, I m worried abt just one spot .. the problem is my roof is white and its dirty so i don't know of any such spots on roof.. although i did clean it thorougly even when i brought the car back from wash..
may be just detailing bonnet will do.. i guess.. for now..
I will have you take a look at the "spot" .. and we will take it from there.. in fact the whole thing might be not even be necessary and i m just freakin out for no reason
I suggest showing up early. Right now you think there is only the one spot, but once she has a look there might be more areas that need the touch of the PC.
I stay in a tower and we don't have a water jet for cleaning else I would do that (I used to do it in blacksburg for my civic). And I used to clean once a month. Waxing twice a year.
Should I do the same for cooper? I noticed there are not many do it yourself wash centers around here and the only option is to take it to no touch carwash.
Chandler, we'll discuss the car washing thing while we're working on that etching in your paint.
Noticed I said "we". You didn't think I was going to do all the work while you have a beer and watch, did you ? You might learn how to use a R/O buffer.
Okay... no bathrooms. You can clean my son's room instead. Once you see that, you might be begging to clean the bathrooms. Kidding, of course. The old man's OCD has rubbed off on him and his room is pretty immaculate.
And yes, by the time we're done working on your bonnet, you'll be an experienced detailer. In fact, I'm betting before the weekend is over, you'll have your own PC R/O Buffer on order.
