I have been trying to wash my car once a week and use hydro everytime and pretty heavy. I don't really want to get into waxing the car, using clay bars, etc. Does hydro give protection like a good wax or is it just cosmetic. Should I have my car detailed by someone else to better protect it if I don't care to.
I haven't used Hydro...yet...but I thought it is meant to be used over a base of Epic, and that it maintains, almost, the Epic protection but eventually you need to put down another base of Epic
It renews the shine of Epic...but is a wax in its own right. I do use both (Hydro over Epic) and to me using Hydro without Epic seems a bit like working without a net, but really Hydro lasts for a month and if you're religious about it you can get away with it as your only wax. I'm too OCD to do it that way though, like in my head I KNOW it works but I would still be paranoid.
Nope, if you are non-OCD you can get away with just washing and Hydro, as long as you keep it up. Hydro lasts about a month.
MLWagner is right... Hydro can be used as a stand-alone protective wax as long as you use it at least once a month as a wax-as-dry (in other words, as you dry). If you don't mind the extra step after you dry, you can use it on the clean/dry surface and only have to reapply every 2-3 months.
In your case, amazonracer, you have a more than adequate layer of protection by using just Hydro. It is a true wax and not just cosmetic.
Sure, using Hydro as a topper over Epic or other similar wipe-on wax is even more protection, but frequent apps of just Hydro provides a strong layer of protection for most situations.
my legacy and civic only use Hydro. they look absolutely fantastic.
i haven't clayed, polished, or "waxed" these cars this year. just a nice
wash and Hydro.
Hydro beads water so well that rain storms just keep "washing" the
dust off...so i haven't even washed the car in 2 weeks. still looks
very clean and shiny. very well protected.
Does it really repel dust? cause I've got a RG/S MCS and it's a pain dust it every few days
does not "repel" dust, but it does not attract dust like some waxes do
after the buff.
the dust will also have a hard time grabbing hold of Hydro cause it's very
slick. like i mentioned above, even rain water will rinse the dust off the
car.
jonv- just get the gallon. i promise you'll like it so much that you will
want to buy a gallon anyways later.
you can use pretty much any trigger type spray bottle you have at home.
a little mist will go a LONG way.
LOL! you read my mind. I was going to order a bottle and try it out. it sounds fairly easy to use and I've read reviews on the stuff and lots of people like it. How often do you use it on your car? after every wash?

And if you want to skip right to buying a gallon (and you do, believe me), Detailer's Paradise will happily send you an empty Hydro spray bottle with your order. While you can use any sprayer, the Prima bottles are a nice size, good construction, and look nicer than just writing "Hydro" on a garden spray bottle with a Sharpie!
2. Hydro (2 sprits per panel on wet surface) wipe dry with MF drying towel.
done
no, i have not clayed, polished, or anything on my cars. they look
fantastic. the paint looks 10x better after 24hrs as the
polymer fully cures. this stuff is simply amazing.
you can clay if you have contaminants on the surface (rough spots
when you run your fingers over the paint), but not really necessary
if you just want a nice looking car. if you're OCD, you'll obviously
want to remove those contaminants.
