I am swearing by this metal restorer I got the other day. It's made by Mother's and it comes in a little jar...and costs less than $5.
My wheels had brake dust stains that would not come off with regular washing. Yesterday I tried this stuff on my wheels. They looked so good afterwards that I almost cried. My wheels haven't been so clean since the day I picked up my MINI. I am not sure how white wheels would handle it, but on silver it works fantastically. Just thought I would share.

You talking about their Mag Aluminum polish? Little red jar with a white lid?

Great find!
...too bad I have white wheels. I'll keep waxing them 'till my arm falls off

By brake dust stains, do you mean that pitting that happens when the dust is left on the wheels for a few weeks? I have quite a bit of that, and Simple Green is unable to banish it.

That's it. I think. I can't remember whether or not the lid is red or white.
