What is this stain? How to remove it?

Here is a non-elevated, smooth yellow-brown stain on my bonnet that does not rub off. It appears to be under the surface. I street park so my suspicion is that this is from bird droppings. How do I remove this?

This may be the bastard that did it:

he's mad cute

Although I wouldnt like it hanging out, I would find that fun.

That is really a strange spot. Birds can eat all sorts of things for different poops.

I would think that it is a rust pour/crap from a bridge though.

What did you rub it with? Have you given it a good wash? What type of wax or sealant is on the car?

If i had that, I would use Speedshine, a good quick detailer, and a small piece of claybar to get that out. I would first, of course, wash it before that as to not induce any sort of scratching.

That bird looks sick. Really, he does.
Birds have to preen themselves in order to maintain their feathers, otherwise they dont fly. I think your new friend is on his way out, IMO. (Plus birds dont normally 'roost' that close to the ground).
Also, I would have to agree with El_Jefe, and say that your stain is not from the bird, but perhaps a rust stain. I had two on my white roof, and got them out when I washed the car last.
I used Mr. Clean Bug and Tar Remover for paint, chrome and Glass. I found it at Walmart for less than 2.00, in a little greenish/yellowish bottle with a blue cap. I put a few drops on, let it sit for about a minute, and gently rubbed it off with a chamois. The darker stain took a repeat, but they both did come out. Good luck to you, and like El_Jefe said, there is always the Claybar if that doesnt work!

I would first start by getting a shot gun ... making sure of course to keep your MINI out of the line of fire.

if nothing works, try UV.... seriously, UV remove a brownish
stain like that from my bumper a while ago. i just set my car
outside on a super bright summer day and walla! stain dissappeared.

in my case, i think it was bug guts. i tried everything... it was
IN the clearcoat... could not get to it.

How long has it been there? I had a yellowish stain (also from bug guts) and I left the car out in the sun for the day and it bleached the stain right out.

this makes me doubt you, Kenchan!

I thought you owned every conceivable detail supply!

How could you let the sun take out a stain and not something like 3M??

Bad kenchan, bad!

Thanks for all the tips. I am definitely a newbie at this. My car has no wax or sealant. I have never done any detailing, but my new Mini deserves some pampering.

The only thing I have had time to do is rub it with Armor All cleaning wipes and some Goo Gone I used for a decal. I have not had time to go out and get some real stuff.

The stain really seems to be underneath the clearcoat. I will try Mr. Clean Bug and Tar and then Claybar. Too bad it has been cloudy, though. Some sun might help. Maybe I can find a tanning booth large enough.

If I lived somewhere with easy access to a driveway and hose, I would certainly submit. Right now it would be too much effort for me to drive out to a place where I can really pamper my mini properly. Don't think my wife and baby girl would have much fun. I guess I'm lazy.

I'm going to probably give in and bring my mini to a detailer to wax my car. What should I look for in a place? What products?

Another idea - try one of those "do it yourself" wash bays, but take your own quality supplies!
