Black vinyl cleaner

Can anyone advise on what type of cleaner is best for the black vinyl exterior areas on the Mini?

Richard aka OctaneGuy (the guy behind Black Wow) is a regular on this forum. You can search for his posts and get a lot of good advice.

I use Black Wow also, maybe once every two months. Then I use a vinyl dressing, like Prima Nero or 303 Aerospace protectant, with weekly washings.

Then in that case, I've been using Wizards Black Renew and then, like someone else said, Prima Nero after weekly washes. Since I started using any kind of proper cleaner, I can't believe not only how clean the trim gets, but how long it stays clean. Can't wait to try Black Wow.

For a true cleaner I can recommend Wizards Black Renew or Zaino Z-16. Both products will help you clean the trim. To keep it black I highly recommend OG's Black WOW which has worked for more then 7 weeks now. Between apps of Black WOW, I use either of the two above or just car soap while washing.
Black WOW is really phenomenal stuff!

I have not used Black Wow. I have read lots on it the last few days
here. Looks good.I even found a thread on Autopia about it. So word is getting out.
There is (was?) a How to video of using BW but I can not find it.
Not sure if I could put the link in or not either.
If you want the BW one can call or e-mail Chemical Guys. They will
sell it direct to you.
I usually use Megs #39 follwed by # 40. I am also exploring new products.

I don't think OctaneGuy has done one yet. I know he said he has plans to though.

I really don't think this is true. You might be getting confused with some other product. As far as I know the only way to get Black WOW is to order off of NAM or from Richard directly.

Besides, after what the Chemical Guys did to Detailers Paradise, I really doubt I will ever visit their website on purpose.

This is where I think the video has been shown:
http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-p...ight=black+wow

As for the Chemical Guy's I have an e-mail that says otherwise. I e-mailed them and asked.
What did CG do to Detailers Paradise?????? I am new and not familiar with the situation.

I prefer Meguairs Gold Class Trim Detailer. They've been doing it since 1901 and they have proven products.

I too am not familiar with the CG/Detailer's Paradise issue. Does CG make Prima detailing products?

All I had was Hydro. I cleaned it first with Clarity, and then used Hydro. It turned out beautiful and took off all the dog saliva...that I could never get off. It's not a mini, it's the car I need to sell to pay for my mini.

Off topic: Out of curiousity, do you think your Xa had adequate power? I drove a couple, and just couldn't get it to move.

You can find the video at the website

www.black-wow.com

I have no relation with Chemical Guys. BW is a product that I developed and formulated with my father. We manufacture it ourselves. Check the link above for more info.

Thanks for the additional info. Unless they are trying to rip me off which wouldn't really surprise me considering what they did with DP, they don't even know what they are talking about.

I can assure you that Chemical Guys does NOT make my Black Wow nor do they sell it.

Richard

Thanks Richard! I watched the video and read the FAQ.
I read about the freeze test but what about heat? I get freezing weather here but it also gets hot. Like in the 100's. Like today...........
I got this from the FAQ.

: Where is BW made?
A: Right here in the USA. Early production versions were made in our laboratory for several months, until demand outgrew our ability to produce more every week.
So did you build a new plant? I am sure that I and many others would like to tour your manufacturing
plant! Where is it located and how can we have a day visit?
I linked off your BW site to a detail of yours:
http://www.showcardetailing.com/foru...ighlight=envoy
That is a big vehicle!

Richard my love... is now making stuff... that rox

OctaneGuy, do you have a recommendation for the removal of carnauba paste from the plastic? I know you said isopropyl and rubbing once. It really takes a long time and when it finally dries, 2 out of 3 times I see white again but just a thinner splotch of it.

I would like to get your stuff but I wouldnt want to waste it applying it on top of a non-perfect piece of plastic.

hi there again

yeah good to be back on.

I will be buying richards stuff, definitely so. with a q-tip it is easy to not get it on the paint, but, vice versa its hard to not get the wax on the plastic.

My BW will turn your non-perfect piece of plastic to something better than it's ever looked. So get some.

BW has cleaners in it, so you might need to use a bit more BW as well as a towel or pad with a bit more "bite" to remove heavy residue. When using it as a dressing/conditioner, you don't need very much product, but in "residue removal mode" you will want a little more. Finally, although my video shows me using a foam applicator pad, I'm finding that the Prima Skinnies are an even better applicator because of the sewn edges that give you some bite when necessary. You can also fold the pads in half and use the rounded folded edge for getting into tight spots.

As as I learned at MITM2 from Bob (zinvestor??)--a curved foam tire applicator makes a great BW applicator for getting into very tight spots.

Minimaybee also taught me some excellent "masking" tips for using BW without taping your paint of using a paper plate--folded in half and slid against the trim, protecting the paint as you apply BW. I use an old brochure that I had on hand to do the same while I dressed Mark Fergusons classic Mini. I slid it under the plastic piece to protect the paint, then applied BW all I wanted.

I will photo document and give credit where it's due soon.

FWIW, I've started shipping all BW backorders.

Richard
