Checkered Sun Roof Graphic...Stains

I have a checkered sun roof graphic since October, 2006 and now have stains on many of the white squares. I have used wax on it fairly frequently, but do not believe that has caused these stains. It seems to be spreading quickly now. Does anyone know what I can use to remove these stains. I would appreciate any help you might have. Thank you

Claybar might be too strong, vynal is much softer then paint, and improperly used, a claybar can damage it. If you do go that route, be very careful and don't apply alot of pressure with the clay.

Hmmmmmmmmm, Jeremy, I've clayed my vinyls stripes with no problems. Of course, I never apply much pressure to the claybar because it's suppose to do all the work.

Haven't tried it on my checkered roof yet... but I wouldn't be afraid to try it when my next complete detailing of Bergey comes along (soon).

My only warning would be this: If you're going to use the spray lubricant instead of water with the claybar, spray it down every time you do a 2' square panel so as not to stain the vinyl.

I've never damaged my vynal either, but I've heard horror stories of people claying away the color off their black OEM stripes (not sure if his checkerboard is OEM)

True... OEM vinyl seems a lot thinner than the kind of vinyl Aesthetic Creations (and I'm sure, some of the other vendsors) uses.

That, combines with excessive elbow grease and there is that potential for disaster.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I have removed the wax in one small section with a chemical was remover from Zymol. This did not yield any good results. I have also used, very carefully, stronger chemical cleaning agents with no success. You can not use clay on this roof graphic, because the white squares are raised, and the clay catches the edge causing a un-desirable line. The stains are a yellow like color, almost the color of my clay, but I have been very careful not to clay the graphic, after I discover the raised panels. I was hoping someone would have knowledge of a cleaner that could be safely used.

Oh, you have the kind where just the white area is vinyl. Sorry, mine is all one piece and assumed yours were, too.

You're right, can't use clay on that, you'd lift up the edges of the vinyl, not to mention the pain in the arse trying to clean up the clay around the edges.

Next suggestion.... anyone ?

So each white square is an individual piece of vinyl? Never seen that before, must be a real PITA to wax.
Don't know how much patients you have but you might try a q-tip and vinegar on a couple of squares. If that doesn't work I guess I would next try a toothbrush with a little Comet, or perhaps just straight bleach.
