I know Ken responded, but I will say "maybe" as the answer.

The question to be asked is how long did the bird crap sit on the roof before you cleaned it up?

The real answer to that--is it almost doesn't matter because your paint will be etched within seconds of when the poo sits on the paint. But if it's sitting there for a long time, the difference in etching, is similar to acid.

Take some acid, put it on your paint. Remove it right away and you've got a surface etching that can be buffed away. Leave it longer and the acid literally burns a hole, and now the only way to fix it is to add paint!

Oh' I always like good news the bird gift was on the roof in the hot sun for a good six hours or so by the time I first saw it, so maybe it's time for roof graphics....

Yeah black paint in the sun with bird poo isn't a pretty sight. If you look closely at the bird poo etching, especially with a magnifying glass, you can tell if it's fixable or not. If you see a bunch of little holes or spider cracks, chances are it can't be fixed. It MIGHT be able to be improved, but most likely it's something you have to live with unfortunately.

Remember claybar will remove surface contamination, but nothing in or below the paint surface. Polish and paint cleaners/cleansers can remove contaminants in the paint, to a certain degree. Deep etchings will need to be smoothed to the lowest point of the etching--there might not be enough paint to find out.

yah, my legacy is black and it gets bird crappage often. it etches the
paint pretty quick if the bird ate some berries or something.

i wipe away the crap and inspect the paint. if there's minor etching
i just use scratch-x and Hydro afterwards. works every time.

Well Okie-Doke Octaneguy I know you to be "The Man" when it comes to making paint look beyond great, as I watched you do your magic at AMVIV this year. Thanks from the info & I will keep trying till I can make it livable.

I have a simular spot-also from a berry eating bird of hell! I've scratch-x's (Meguiars) a couple times and washed/hydro's several times since then and it had gotten a lot better, but it's still there if you look close.

The thing about clay is, you work your tail off with it and, you can't SEE any difference. Sure, rub your finger on the car and you can feel it. But I don't want people feeling my car, than you! Now, Hydro, on the other hand........ That stuff looks like it will feel you back.

you need to do a few more apps...but in your case, the etching could
be through the clear and between the clear and basecoat. then,
you can't do much unless you repaint...
