ok i'm selling my car and i keep it reasonably clean. i don't think it needs to be detailed on the exterior or interior but theres things like the wheel wells and underneath the car that i can't get to... would detailing take car of that? should i do it?

Seems like "reasonably clean" would be okay for selling, but it might be worth it to squeak a few more $$$s out of the sale. I think a professional buyer would be looking past pure outer appearance to deeper mechanical or structural issues. A private buyer might really be swayed by it though...

as JDS says, that a private buyer would most likely be swayed by "reasonably clean."
Are you selling the car as a trade in, if so you should have the car detailed especially the engine compartment. You can do it yourself if you wish, just wear gloves.
