Seat Wear

The drivers side seat bolster in my 2005 is showing some wear; the leading edge of the seat back that gets rubbed when you get into and out of the car. What has anyone done to fix those scratches and wear marks? Besides looking shabby, I don't want a hole in the seats. Anyone know how to avoid the scratches? Is there a trick to getting in the car in tight places with out dragging your butt across the seat bolster?

Keeping it conditioned is 3/4 of the battle.

The rest is, make sure the seat is ALLL the way back when you get in and out of the car. The more room you can make getting in and out, the less likely you are to "graze" it.

The side bolster of the back part of the seat.

It requires a rear-end to hit it with tho...of which I have plenty!

Have you considered a seat cover? That was one of the reasons I got the Wet Okoles.

Thanks ScottinBend. I had never seen quality seat covers like Okoles, so never considered seat covers. Given they are neoprene, how well do they breath? What has your experience been? My only experience with seat covers were sheep skin for my '73 VW, back in the day! They covered the worn seats but looked and performed poor; always slipping off.

I find the Wet Okole seat covers cooler than vinyl seats in the summer and warmer than cloth seats in the winter. I purchased mainly because I have cloth seats and with a Cabrini, I didn't want them getting wet.
The neoprene are easy to clean and for protection I simply use 303 Aerospace Protectant instead of the stuff you can order from Wet Okole. I discussed this with DP before I switched.
The other benefit is that they look and fit great with a multitude of colors to choose from and cutouts for side airbags.
Do a search on Wet Okole and you'll find some threads with more info.

Same here..........nicer in the winter, but a bit warmer in the summer. The seats won't "breath" like the fabric ones do, but I prefer to get some sweat on the seat covers vs soaking the seats themselves.

Anybody have the Wet Okoles with heated seats ? How does that work out ? Any problems ?

i complained to my sa. since i have an '06 not even a year old, they ordered a new seatback for me. all ok now.

I have heated seats and the seat covers probably tone the heat down a bit (never had them off with the heat on), but they do get warm. I also pulled off the covers this spring for a good scrubbing and saw no indication of harm to either the seats or covers due to my use of the heat.

Hey, that leather wear is what keeps part my DH's business going. Don't be conditioning that leather. Let the sun dry it out to a crisp. Clean it with Armourall, oh yeah!!! (Just kidding - Don't you dare use this product on leather, or anything else in your car!!!)

The best thing you can do for your leather seats is...
CONDITION!!!
CONDITION!!!
CONDITION!!!

Pay the money and use a really good leather conditioner!!!
