I noticed that I had been hit when I left work today so as soon as I got home, I immediatly washed off the droppings and hit the area with some QD. I noticed a cloudy mark where the dropping was so I repeated the rinse, put a little soup on my MF and washed, rinsed, QD as I dried. The mark is still there. I went and got a small corner of my clay bar, QD and clayed-nothing.
What should I use to get the phantom menace of a bird dropping off my paint?
I got the DP super bundle Tuesday (quick delivery!) that has epic- I was planning on doing a full clay/detail Saturday. Do I need to get some ICE as well or will the stuff I have work?
OK tired the scratchX-helped but not totally. What I have left looks like a spider cracks in the clear coat-faint but there. More elbo greese or is a Porter Cable with some cutting wax needed? I was pretty easy with the scratch X as I am afraid to cause more damage but if it's OK to lean into it a little let me know. I'd sure like to show that bird my "bird"!
If you see spider cracks, that may indeed be what you're seeing--no amount of polishing will fix that. Bird poo etches your paint, and it being in just seconds after it hits. Leaving it for a day before washing is probably the problem here.
When bird poo etchings penetrate the clear coat--you're going to have to live with it until you repaint it.
Btw, as far as pressure goes-if your MINI isn't rocking when you are rubbing ScratchX, you aren't rubbing hard enough.

What kind of soup did you use? I prefer clam chowder, but chicken soup might work better....

Yeah, I'm thinking that the cream in clam chowder could interfere. I agree with Richard that chicken soup (without the noodles maybe?) would be better. Or, perhaps Minestrone? I think the mild acidity of Minestrone could be helpful, not to mention the "grit" contribution of all the beans and veggies. Definitely avoid tomato soup though... that is WAY too much acid.
Hee-hee! Is it Friday already?? It's hard to be serious on a Friday.
Yeah I had to make sure I wrote Chicken Soup and not Chicken Noodle. The extra carbs in the noodles can't be helpful for removing something. I wonder if pea soup would work. If it's not ground up well enough, it could function as an abrasive!
Friday?? Already? Woohoooo!
