No washing for me for awhile :(

So I have this gnarly chemical burn on my finger (short version: I'm an idiot). My finger is now smothered in this goopy ointment, wrapped in layers of gauze, covered in some weird stretchy netting, and a latex thing that looks like a condom over the top of the the whole thing.

I can't get it wet, or get any other chemicals on it other than the ointment...for a MONTH.

Looks like latex gloves and daily QDing for me, for now :(

Salicylic acid, 40% strength. It looked pretty nifty - burned a perfect hole through the dermal layers of my skin, it was the weirdest looking thing. Then everything in a 1.5-inch diameter flaked, peeled, and basically ended up in a 1.5 inch hole.

Now, it just hurts, and my fat protected finger is making it a b*tch to type.

So sorry to hear this :(

Hope you get better soon...and I would seriously stop typing if it hurts that much, as hard as it is to stay away from this board

It doesn't hurt to type. It's just difficult cuz all the stuff on my finger makes it all fat.

Gives me something to do, for now. I really did plan to wash the MINI today. Boo.

Holy Moly, I've seen what even 5% of this stuff does for peeling away old skin.
Take care, your fingers are precious.

{{{hugs}}}

How in the world did you come into contact with 40% salicylic acid?

Yikes so sorry. Hope it heals soon!!!

Could you not make sure your potato finger is well covered & wash putting the mitt on the other hand all-the-while making sure to not get the tater wet I know it would be a slow wash but if you get to feeling really OCD-wash desperate you could give it a try

Yeah I thought about that earlier. I think I might be able to do it. I want to get it past the sore-to-the-touch part first. Hubby just said to me "I can wash it for you..." and I gave him the evil eye. As if.

Yeah, right. Mine finally knows that only wool mitts and MFs will touch Luie, but he's more than happy to take the first MF he finds and use it for every single surface and application. Still working on new tricks for the old dog - slowly but surely!

YYYYYOUCH !!!

Okay, ML, you're place in the OCDetailer's Club will be held for you for at least 12 days. After that, we expect you to buck up and do all that washing, claying, buffing, polishing, waxing, hydroing, and QDing with one hand.

Or, you can hire kenchan to come do it for you.

Heal quickly !!!

Oh my. Where in the world did you come into contact with that acid solution?

And Clara had just gotten all healed up herself!

Hope you both get back into sync soon. And I am sure Clara will appreciate you not allowing a non-OCD attempt to clean her. *shudder* Makes me squirm when I think about it.

I think I'll go give Romi a hug and wipe her down. I noticed a bit of brake dust on her front wheels this morning.

Didn't some guy learn to paint with his feet. It would be quite a neighborhood novelty if you could manage that ML.

Ha, my whole process is a neighborhood novelty already! My neighbor across the street says in the summer, he has his morning coffee standing at his living room window (that faces out into the street) and watches me QD Clara.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys. At least I can QD!

I know how you feel. My neighbors all just think I am a nutjob for all the effort I put into keeping my cars spotless and protected.
