Detailing empathy needed...

Schultze has been in the bodyshop since Monday...the boot hinges were defective and are being replaced under warranty. The passenger side of the boot would be flush with the body when closed, but the driver side was always ajar by a good 1/2" or so!

Anyhow...I'm looking for compassion and empathy from my fellow Detailing OCDers because the last thing I was able to do for Schultze was give him 3 good layers of wax plus a good coating of Hydro before handing him over to the bodyshop.

I actually MISS QDing Schultze and I'm worried that the bodyshop will forget about the NO WASH instructions relayed to them by the dealership. I'm also worried about debris & bird droppings...I don't even know where the bodyshop is located, but I'm certain that Schultze hasn't been babied at all this week!

Gosh...I knew that I was OCD, but this is the first time I have ever "missed" a car!

Am I over-reacting? Do I need serious professional help?

You don't need professional therapy. What you need is a great big hug!

<hugz> He'll be home with you soon, better than ever...and you can re-bond over a major detailing experience. I'm sure he misses you too.

Don't worry - he'll be home soon, and you'll be able to undo anything they MIGHT do if they accidentally wash him!

My body shop also does a free detail and polish (with a rotary!) for each customer. It's a nice signature touch. But I wouldn't expect most to be like that! You should most certainly ask to find out what body shop is being used, and do some research on the quality of their work. Sadly my dealership has started sending cars to a second shop that is not nearly up the the quality and attention. Once you know a good shop, you should be able to specify to the dealer which you want, or even skip the dealer altogether if you're paying.
