Buy every option - all of them. That's right, ALL of them. Then... keep that MINI! Once you have every option, maybe you won't feel the need to keep changing to other MINIs. Make this one your last!
The expense? Sure... but how much have you lost already by changing MINIs every year? Heh.
Hey at least I'm choosing a car that has a high residual value and I can get the majority of my value out of it in a year. If I were to stay in the car for two years I have less of a percentage of my car's value vs. the loan amount due. :-)

Personally when I was going through the configurator some of the things I would want aren't available until March. I'de wait until then to see what the Hyper Sport suspension gains and what the factory Aero Kit looks like. Not to mention that's also when they say they're putting in the HD radio stuff.
Hyper Sport suspension adds the aero kit (non-JCW) and the sports suspension. That's all. I have no interest in HD radio.. I have sat radio.. just got to figure out a way for XM to work with the MOST interface. I think Blitzsafe is working on that.

You know I am a big fan of the Sparkling Silver. I think it would look VERY sharp with a black roof. I am so partial to Indi Blue, I have never really taken to any of the other blues.

Unlucky me - I can take the historical perspective.
Over the years I have had many cars (primarily BMW's) and I have always regretted being sucked in by the appeal of the latest model when there where major changes. There seems to always be a huge difference in reliability based on factory testing versus reliability experienced by the buying public.
This also translates to the quality of servicing your vehicle as well - the service knowledge base is none existent.
You're a busy guy and probably can't be without your vehicle for very long. And without the knowledge base for servicing the 2007 model you will, in a sense. be a guinea pig for their on the job learning.
With that said - I will pass on a bit of "Life lesson learned" and state:
i agree with sam. I would hold off til at least 08. Besides with these new 07's coming out, it could increase the value of the 06 depending on what happens with the new 07 ( quirks and problems).
That happened with the 02 7 series when they launched the redesign, the 01's and older were worth more than the used 02's. The value went up for the 01's and older.
It's kinda cool some of the options they have now from the factory for the new MINI, but I would still wait it out til the next model year.
and you have an 06 JCW too, so i would hold onto that a little longer. That's my opinion.

Huh? The highest depreciation if the first year.
As to your options ...
If you not consistently doing track days ... whats the point of the LSD? Your not using it daily. Same with the sport suspension. Didn't you have a JCW? why not just get the JCW suspension later when it comes out?

While you may not get the most of out the LSD unless you track the car alot you will get some benefit. If you've ever been trying to accelerate through a tight corner and had wheel slip (I get this on a daily basis with my commute) the LSD will be beneficial.
And you can also look at it another way, say he's not tracking it right now so he doesn't get the LSD. Then for some reason he decides he really wants to track or autocross alot. Getting a LSD installed aftermarket is going to cost probably around $2000 or more versus getting a ~$500 factory installed version. Of course the 2 LSDs are probably going to be different as I believe the Quaife (as setup for the MINI) is a 5% slip whereas the factory LSD is more like 30%.

NEVER BUY THE FIRST MODEL YEAR
Just my opinion
Little more history
Krut's been there and done that with a very problematic 2002 MINI... Heck as I recall he was aleady on MINI number 2 when Jen, Patricia and I first met him in April 2003!
When it comes when it comes to options for you krut... My thought is does it really matter, you're just going to replace this MINI with a new one in 10 months or so!
and maybe
+1 for waiting until a JCW MCS is offered. I'm not saying to get the JCW after it is offered but just hold until it out. Then make the choice.
My next MINI will be with out sunroof and any other option that adds weight.
My next MINI should be on order in four or five years though....
