I just picked up the Garmin Nuvi 760 today and so far, I really like it. We'll be working on a hardwire install for it soon. We already changed the intro screen and customized the little car...

Where do you put the nuvi's? Can someone please take a picture of it installed -- mine won't be hardwired so I can move it to another car.

We've got 2 Nuvis for 2 MINI's, and we LOVE the Kuda mounts. They look like they were made my MINI.

Thanks for the pic -- what part number(s) did you order from Kuda? Any tips on installing? I'm a newbie and as you all can see, have lots of questions.

Here is a link to the Nuvi icon website.

If you don't find what you are looking for within my limited range of body colors, with or without hood stripes, sunroof (in balck or white) - send me a PM ...

I hope that is what Goldilocks was looking for...

Happy Motoring

First, thanks again for my icon. I think it's time to make a new thread that is a sticky (moderators) One that summarizes all the links on how to create icons and edit them. I have a couple of sites to add to the list that are very helpful...

POI Factory has a long discussion here, and has been very helpful. They also have the Redlight Camera list for the US, very cool...
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/9738

Some more fun custom icons...
http://www.alice-dsl.net/fahrzeuge/index.html

A Windows Paint program that allows you to edit the icons...
http://www.paint.net

A blog where the guy is making all sorts of very detailed icons, including the 60s Batmobile and the Mach 5 from Speed Racer. His icons are much better than MINI's or Garmin's! There is even a Yellow Submarine for days when your NUVI is on a boat (and using Bluecharts!)
http://glad-you-asked.blogspot.com/2...s-dig-car.html

And a complete list of sites to sort through...
List of "pre-made" Vehicles websites

I agree with Lerch and would like to see a page where they are all posted. I started a collection of websites of vehicles that people have created. I thought this might be a good place to post them. Let me know what you think!

I am in talks to get finished files on a server too.. Then future requesters can download icon files directly instead of waiting for me to send them out.. But I hope I have not been too slow in responding.. It is the requests for new combinations that can take longer..

Since this thread went to a new page I thought it time to update on the options that I have now too.. And to answer some of the common questions I get in PMs..

NOTE TO ALL: My icon files are now available at this site.. ...

Here is the new (full list) of add-ons that I have..
-Black Roof
-Black stripes
-White Roof
-White stripes
-Sunroof
-Silver roof
-Colored UJ roof
-B/W UJ roof
-B/W Checkerd roof

These addons can be used on the following MINI body colors..
- Dark Blue
- Laser Blue
- Purple
- Chili Red
- Green
- British Racing Green
- Yellow
- Dark Silver
- Silver
- SparklingSilver
- Black
- Pepper White

The "projects" still out there - If some of you want to jump in and help.. This is where I could use it..
.... U shaped bonnet stripe
.... Straight Racing stripes
.... Boot stripes
.... Hood Scoop addon - to make it look more like an MCS
.... Red tail light option - not just "grey"
.... Red Mirror caps - for GP version

Custom Request I have not been able to do are..
- Electric blue / EB with sunroof / ?? stripes - MINIdave
- GP version MINI - simplekid15
- DS, black roof, red caps, black viper stripes with red - PGT

Other helpful links..
... The "standard" icons are from this link ...
... Install instructions are on post #74 of this thread..

My basic process is...
... Convert an srf to a png file ..here
... Edit the png file with GIMP
... then convert back to srf format - same conversion site.
... install on Nuvi and enjoy..

Well that is all for now..

THANK YOU to those responsible for the cool MINI vehicles that I have downloaded!
z3Bum - your thread was very helpful.
I now have a pretty CR/W wtih white stripes leading my way - kindof a cross btwn my first CR/W no stripes 03, and my current CR white stripes ragtop.

I had to restrain myself to keep from spending countless hours trying to learn how to turn one of those icons into a CR ragtop!!!

Thank you to whoever did all that work, and kindly made it available to us!!!

And Mark - check the thread immediately below yours to find all the cool vehicles - as for a startup image, ANY jpeg can be used - why not take a picture of your own MINI and use that? Or do like me, and put in a picture of your cat, dog, or honey! ;)

Cabrio icon?

Hi, everyone: I've looked everywhere to no avail, although its probably right in front of me!

I'd love a sparkling silver (which really looks taupe) wth a black top; better yet, no top. Its the sidewalk model and has malt leather seats.

I've attempted to add to photos here. Haven't had luck before doing that.

If anyone has any idea where I might find such a vehicle icon, I'd love it. If I could find a convertible mini at all, I could play with it on photoshop for colors.

Any help would be great.

Thanks, bcg, aka Fantastic Choice

Fantasic Choice,

I am sorry to say that I have not be able to create the interior of the MINI in 3D for these icons.. So for the convertables I have recommended to use the black roof icons. I have created a few more version of the Sparkling Silver body color and sent them over to be uploaded on the server here.. With any luck they should be posted in the next few days..

If you are interestd in editing your own icon file, be sure to check out the add-ons directory on that site.. You might find a few things to help you with our editing. Lastly, I recommend GIMP for the edit. PhotoShop does not work well with the png format & the conversion utility..

See my post earlier in this thread for how-tos and other recommendations..

Hope that helps,
BBCooper

According to Garmin this is the part number: 010-10815-00

Link:https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1454

Main link:https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?...ID=6291#Mounts
Then click the accessories tab if that is not the one you are looking for.

I hope that helps.

If anyone needs an .srf for a DS/B with bonnet stripes PM me and I'll email you the file. I searched around the very helpful links in this thread but unfortunately could not find a DS/B with bonnet stripes, so I color swapped one of the existing files.

How do you like your 760? I have had the Nuvin660 for about a year and its great I just got a free update to 2009 maps. But I like the updated display of the 760. The only complaint heard of the 700 series was the sensitivity of the antenna is muh less because it does nto have the flip out one like the 660 and it may cause the accuracyto be off quite a bit. Per gpsmagazine.com.

Ill have to buy it and try it out along side my 660 and see if there is a huge difference.
