Upgrading DME with tune. Can this be done safely?

I was looking to have the dealer upgrade my DME as I am having constant o2 fault readings, new sensor or not.
But I have an RMW tune, and I am worried that by doing the DME updates it will wipe the tune?
Does anyone know if this is something that is safe to do without losing the tune?
Thanks for your help.

Often the dealers first step in trouble shooting a car is a software flash, to start fresh. Asking them not to do it will result in some questions....are you still under warrenty?
If the unit is replaced entirely, then it is likely you will have to start over. If you have a flash tool, you can reload you tune. RMW sells the tool for $300 I think, and Jan may send you a copy of your tune if he is the one who did it.

The mini is not under warranty, and I have a friend at a bmwdealer(they can do mini dme as well).
I was just wondering if its possible to install the dme updates without touching the rmw tune. I tried calling Jan but he is at SEMA.

I'm pretty sure that the tune is stored in the dme... And unless they can download the software off the old one, then upload it to the new one, i'm pretty sure it will be lost. If I am wrong I'm sure someone will chime in and correct me.

I have had to have my Dinan software reinstalled after the dealer reflashed (for O2 sensor actually).

Yes if the dealer reflashes your DME you will loose your tune, no matter what tune program you have.
As for your 02 fault, what fault are you getting? That will determine what is wrong with the car.
